Synopsis
"Some things are better kept private, even among the best of friends. This is a lesson that couples Grace and Carlo (Julia Stiles, Taye Diggs), and Sharyl and George (Melissa George, David Harbour) learn the hard way. Taking place over two evenings set several years apart, the couples’ friendship becomes undone during two nights of frank conversation about sex, money and religion. Confrontation erupts as they realize their lives have moved in irrevocably different directions. As each couple’s fractured relationship is revealed in front of the other, the collateral damage is an old friendship. Based on Joe Hurtua’s award winning play, Dan Mirvish’s film features wonderfully emotional and complicated performances from all four accomplished actors who learn why some things should be kept just Between Us.Actors

In 1974, Ronald DeFeo, Jr. murdered his family at their house in Amityville, New York. He claimed that he was persuaded to kill them by voices he heard in the house. One year later, married couple George (Ryan Reynolds) and Kathy Lutz (Melissa George) move into the house along with the latter's three children from a previous marriage, Billy, Michael and Chelsea. The family soon begins experiencing paranormal events in the house. Chelsea (Chloë Grace Moretz) claims that she befriended a girl named Jodie, a name belonging to one of the murdered DeFeo children. One day the couple decide to go out, and they hire a babysitter to watch the 3 kids. When the babysitter, Lisa (Rachel Nichols), arrives they come to find out that she had previously been hired to babysit the DeFeos.

The story is based on real events and real people and is set in the mid-1950s freehold township of Sophiatown, Johannesburg— one of the few areas in South Africa where blacks could own property and drink alcoholic beverages. Drum begins with the central character, sportswriter Henry Nxumalo, reporting on a boxing match with Nelson Mandela. Nxumalo leaves his wife Florence at home while going out into his community's night life and has an affair with a female singer. He works for Drum magazine, which was "the first black lifestyle magazine in Africa." The magazine was financed by whites and had a multiracial staff; it was popular among the black community. Drum's British editor, Jim Bailey (Jason Flemyng), asks Nxumalo to write on the township crime scene, and Nxumalo, while at first unwilling, finally agrees. While on the job, he encounters Slim (Zola), a gang leader, that he had previously met in illegal township drinking places, and witnesses him kill a man in Sophiatown.
