Synopsis
Après 25 ans de vie avec des parents qui l'ont en fait enlevé étant petit et amené dans une maison isolée dans le désert, James Pope est retrouvé par la police et va vivre une nouvelle vie à Cedar Hills avec ses parents biologiques. Il découvre avec stupeur qu'il est le seul à connaitre l'émission pour enfants Brigsby Bear Adventures qui a en fait été créé de toutes pièces par ses ravisseurs, et qui s'est donc arrêtée sans jamais se terminer. Pour affronter sa nouvelle vie, le jeune homme décide de mettre en pratique les leçons de l'ours Brigsby et de lui donner une fin en film.Actors

While discussing a new book idea, a modern-day evangelical Pastor, Dan Day (Brosnan), accidentally shoots atheist Dr. Paul Blaylock (Harris) in the head. Pastor Day tries to make it look like a suicide, fearing the damage to his reputation if word were to get out. However, reborn church-goer and ex-deadhead Carl (Kinnear) witnesses the act. Carl has to endure attacks by fellow church-goers at Day's request (although under false pretense), his own family's skepticism about his story, and a Mexican crime lord who kidnaps him looking to blackmail both Carl and Pastor Day with footage of the accident.

The film opens as Jamie (Catherine Keener) walks in on her ex-husband John (John C. Reilly) as he is masturbating. She had come to his house to tell him that she is getting married. Even though they have been apart for seven years, the news still devastates John, who is already in a depression. Jamie insists that John accompany her to a party the following night and try to cheer up. At the party, John tries various conversational tactics with different women, failing to spark a connection each time.
