Synopsis

Armida Miserere est l'une des premières femmes directrices de prison d'Italie. Régulièrement menacée de mort, elle n'a pas froid aux yeux et impose son autorité tout en s'appliquant à faire respecter les droits des détenus. À la fois forte et fragile, pugnace et sensible, elle rêve aussi d'une vie familiale sans histoire. Sa vie bascule le jour où son mari se fait brutalement assassiner par la mafia. Désormais sans attache, elle accepte la direction de prisons parmi les plus dures d'Italie, sans jamais renoncer à sa quête de vérité et de justice

The series begins in 82 BC when Julius Caesar is an eighteen-year-old man. He is out in the town with his daughter Julia when news comes that Lucius Cornelius Sulla is just outside the city walls and intends to take the city with his army. The guards sent with the news post death lists on the senate door. When he sees that his father-in-law's name is there he rushes to his house to try and help him escape. However, Pompey arrests him and takes him to Sulla. Caesar's mother, Aurelia, asks Sulla to show him mercy; out of respect for her, he promises to let Caesar live if he divorces his wife, Cornelia, but Caesar refuses. Sulla lets him go but orders Pompey to kill him and bring his heart to him. Pompey follows Caesar and tells him to leave Rome, which he does. Pompey buys a swine's heart from the market and tells Sulla that the heart is Caesar's.

En 2015, suite à la victoire du parti Syriza aux élections législatives grecques, le nouveau ministre des finances Yánis Varoufákis a pour mission de négocier une révision du Memorandum of Understanding signé par le gouvernement précédent avec les institutions européennes et internationales et de sortir ainsi son pays d’une grave crise de la dette. Mais, lors des réunions successives de l’Eurogroupe (réunions autour desquelles le film est construit), il se heurte à un refus de toute renégociation, ce qui amène le chef du gouvernement, Aléxis Tsípras, à accepter de signer le Memorandum, malgré le référendum qui a donné la victoire au Non, et Yánis Varoufákis à démissionner cinq mois après son entrée en fonction.
