Extraterrestrial (also known under the working title of The Visitors) is a 2014 sci-fi horror film that was directed by Colin Minihan, based on a script by both Vicious Brothers. It stars Brittany Allen, Freddie Stroma, and Melanie Papalia as a group of friends that must defend themselves against an alien onslaught.

Synopsis

The film begins with a woman (Emily Perkins) who runs to a nearby shop wanting to use the phone. She enters a phone booth, but is taken by an unknown creature. April (Brittany Allen) and her boyfriend Kyle (Freddie Stroma) are planning to go to her parents cabin for a romantic weekend alone, however she finds out that Kyle has invited his annoying friend Seth (Jesse Moss), Seth's girlfriend Lex (Anja Savcic), and another friend named Melanie (Melanie Papalia) along. Along the way, Seth sets off fireworks in the car and they are pulled over by Sheriff Murphy (Gil Bellows) who gives them a warning before letting them go. They finally make it to the cabin and begin drinking and smoking marijuana. Later on, Kyle proposes to April, which April rejects, angering Kyle. Suddenly they see something crash in the woods and upon investigating find that it's a UFO. After returning to the cabin they hear noises upstairs, and after getting April's father's gun find nothing but an open door. After finding an alien on the patio they shoot it to death. They then try and drive to town but find that the road is blocked.

Americans Ben and Sean (Max Minghella and Emile Hirsch) travel to Moscow to sell their social networking/party locating software. As they approach the airport the plane short circuits due to an electrical storm but regains power. They find their Swedish business partner, Skyler (Joel Kinnaman), has betrayed them and already made a deal with the Russians, using a knockoff application. They go to a nightclub and meet Natalie (Olivia Thirlby), an American, and her Australian friend Anne (Rachel Taylor). The lights go out in the club and everyone heads outside. There, they witness what appears to be an aurora. Balls of light fall from the sky and then fade away. When a policeman investigates he is disintegrated. The invisible entities begin hunting and disintegrating people, sending them into a panic.

The Astro Investigation and Defence Service (AIDS) sends Derek, Frank, Ozzy, and Barry to investigate the disappearance of everyone in the town of Kaihoro, New Zealand. One evening at Herrington High School in Ohio, a few teachers, the head football coach and the principal leave after discussions about the school's budget. Having left her keys behind, Principal Drake (Bebe Neuwirth) returns to retrieve them. Drake runs to the doors with Willis at her tail, unable to immediately find the correct key allows Willis to get up close and obstruct door closure, but Drake successfully closes the padlock. Olsen then consecutively stabs Drake with the scissors with an emotionless face, and reveals that Olsen is in cahoots with Willis.
