The plot concerns a young girl who develops pyrokinesis and the secret government agency known as The Shop which seeks to control her. The film was directed by Mark L. Lester, and stars David Keith, Drew Barrymore, Martin Sheen and George C. Scott. The film was shot in and around Wilmington, Chimney Rock, and Lake Lure, North Carolina.
A miniseries follow-up to the film, entitled Rekindled, was released in 2002 on the Sci-Fi Channel.
Synopsis
Andy McGee (David Keith) met his future wife, Vicky Tomlinson (Heather Locklear), in college while they were earning money by participating in an experiment in which they were given a dose of a low-grade hallucinogen called LOT-6. The experiment grants Vicky the ability to read minds; Andy can make people do and believe what he wants, but the effort gives him nosebleeds (the novel revealing them to be "pinprick" hemorrhages). Andy and Vicky went on to get married, and they now have a nine-year-old daughter named Charlene "Charlie" McGee (Drew Barrymore), who can start fires with very little effort.Actors

Jerry Logan, a cab driver in Las Vegas, picks up a nervous passenger who offers him $100 to get to the airport as quickly as possible. Unknown to Jerry, the man has stolen $1 million from the Al Chambers, a mob-connected casino owner. Chambers himself skimmed the money from mob boss August Gurino. Knowing that Gurino will kill him if he notices the missing money, Chambers sends assassins to recover it. Although they successfully kill the thief, Logan escapes with the cash. Desperate, Chambers hires an expensive hitman, David Eckhart, who tracks Logan to his house. Logan escapes with the money and flees the city on a train. Before he leaves, he confides in a friendly waitress, and Eckhart intimidates her into revealing Logan's destination. Eckhart kills the waitress and follows Logan.

They decide to go snorkeling where they meet Henry (Berne Velasquez), the snorkeling instructor. While snorkeling they encounter the body of Jackson "Jax" Slate (Brian Krause). When they encounter Jax, they believe he is dead but he soon becomes conscious. When Jax wakes up, he is accompanied by Henry, Rod, Jane, and Sarah (Anne McDaniels). Jax tells them what happened and they go out to sea to investigate, however Jane doesn't want to go and she doesn't want Rod to go. Rod ends up going out to sea and leaving Jane behind.When they return from the investigation,Jax and Sarah had sex on a private house lot,bothe were naked and they came out of the pool and had (full scene) sex inside the house.Morning comes.

Set in the future, youth gang violence is so high that the areas around some schools have become "free fire zones", into which not even the Police will venture.
