The film is set in the 1950s. Montse (Macarena Gómez) has lost her youth taking care of younger sister Nia (Nadia de Santiago), both locked in a dark apartment in the center of Madrid. Their mother died during Nia's birth and their father (Luis Tosar) ran away, unable to handle the situation. And so, forced to act as father, mother and older sister, Montse hides from reality, feeding an obsessive, unhinged temperament. She suffers from agoraphobia and her only link to reality is Nia. That link breaks when Carlos (Hugo Silva), a neighbor of them, falls off the stairs and looks for help knocking on the only door he can drag himself towards. Someone has entered the shrew's nest, and might not come out again.

Jota (Novo), a failed musician whose girlfriend has recently left him, is about to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge when a girl on a motorcycle, Sofía (Suárez), crashes off it. Rushing to help her, he discovers she has lost her memory, even forgetting her name. After telling the paramedics and staff at the hospital that she is his girlfriend, he later tells her the same. He invents an entire identity for her, giving her the name Lisa, and a history of their relationship according to his own fantasies. Fighting in the trenches of Biscay in 1875 during the Third Carlist War, Carmelo Mendiluze, an army sergeant, learns from a young errand boy named Ilegorri that Manuel Iriguíbel, his neighbor from his native village, has joined their exhausted battalion. The film opens with three men, José (Hugo Silva), Tony (Mario Casas), and Manuel (Jaime Ordóñez), robbing a pawn shop. Tony and Manuel are unhappy that José has brought his son Sergio (Gabriel Delgado) along on the heist and are even unhappier that the child is participating with them, as this puts both him and them at risk. The robbery initially seems to go well and the group collects a large bag full of gold rings and jewelry, only for the robbery to turn sour and for several people to die in the resulting gunfire. The men hijack a taxi and stow its unwilling driver in the trunk, then drive towards Spain's border with the intent to flee to France.

Front russe, hiver 1943. la Division bleue est composée de 18 000 volontaires espagnols envoyés sur le Front de l’Est afin de prêter main-forte aux troupes allemandes. Un matin, un bataillon de la Division bleue découvre une série de têtes de chevaux éparpillés sur la surface gelée du lac, sur un des chevaux, le corps d’un officier égorgé avec, sur son torse, une phrase étrange inscrite au couteau : « Prends garde, Dieu te regarde ». D’autres crimes suivront. Le soldat Arturo Andrade, un ancien inspecteur de police précis et rigoureux, est chargé de l’enquête. Face à lui, 18 000 suspects. Arturo décèle des liens entre les assassinats et la franc-maçonnerie. Il forme une deuxième hypothèse : la victime aurait pu être un agent pro-soviétique infiltré dans la Division, et « Prends garde, Dieu te regarde », un avertissement aux autres taupes.
