Jeremiah Terminator LeRoy est une comédie dramatique biographique américano-canado-britannique écrite et réalisée par Justin Kelly, sorti en 2018. Il s’agit de l’adaptation des mémoires Girl Boy Girl: How I Became JT Leroy de Savannah Knoop et de la vie de Laura Albert.

Le film est présenté au festival international du film de Toronto 2018.

Synopsis

Dans les années 1990, Laura Albert, une femme écrivain, se fait passer pour un transgenre nommé JT LeRoy (Jeremiah « Terminator » LeRoy). En public, JT LeRoy est « joué » par son amie Savannah Knoop jusque dans les années 2000, pour duper le monde des célébrités, de la mode et des lettres. Mais le canular sera démasqué par le New York Times.

The film opens with Vollmer balancing a water tumbler on her head as Burroughs, her husband, aims a gun at her as she entices him to shoot her. The film then cuts to Joan and Burroughs in the months prior in Mexico City, as Burroughs is leaving on a trip to Guatemala to meet his male lover, Lee. Joan, despondent to William's affair and his disinterest in her, is left to take care of their two children while he goes on his vacation.

In 1593 London, William Shakespeare is a sometime player in the Lord Chamberlain's Men and poor playwright for Philip Henslowe, owner of The Rose Theatre. Shakespeare is working on a new comedy, Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate's Daughter. Suffering from writer's block, he has barely begun the play, but starts auditioning players. Viola de Lesseps, the daughter of a wealthy merchant, who has seen Shakespeare's plays at court, disguises herself as "Thomas Kent" to audition, then runs away. Shakespeare pursues Kent to Viola's house and leaves a note with the nurse, asking Thomas Kent to begin rehearsals at the Rose. He sneaks into the house with the minstrels playing that night at the ball, where her parents are arranging her betrothal to Lord Wessex, an impoverished aristocrat. While dancing with Viola, Shakespeare is struck speechless, and after being forcibly ejected by Wessex, uses Thomas Kent as a go-between to woo her. Wessex also asks Will's name, to which he replies that he is Christopher Marlowe.

C'est durant ses derniers mois qu'Arthur exprimera des sentiments insoupçonnés : son amour pour la vie et ses inclinaisons pour le surnaturel.
