It was the first Ethiopian film to be included in the Official Selection. It was screened in the Contemporary World Cinema section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. The film was selected as the Ethiopian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards.
Synopsis
Ephraïm est un jeune garçon éthiopien, toujours accompagné de son inséparable brebis. Suite à une famine ayant provoqué le décès de sa mère et poussant son père à aller chercher du travail en ville, il est confié à la garde de son oncle. Mais Ephraïm s'adapte mal à sa nouvelle vie. Un jour son oncle lui annonce qu'il devra sacrifier sa brebis pour le prochain repas de fête. Ephraïm tentera tout pour sauver la vie de sa brebis.Comments

Trois ermites aînés, Charlie (Gilbert Sicotte), Tom (Rémy Girard) et Boychuck (Kenneth Welsh), vivent dans la forêt de l'abitibienne, isolés du reste du monde. Après la mort de l'ermite aîné, Boychuck, peintre à ses heures, les deux hommes font une découverte étonnante : des centaines de peintures faisant écho à sa tragique expérience liée à des incendies de forêt qui menacent la région. Aux funérailles de leur compagnon, les deux hommes font la rencontre de Gertrude (Andrée Lachapelle), qui fut internée à l'âge de 16 ans pour des motifs religieux. Gertrude veut fuir la clinique médicale et aboutit chez Charlie et Tom qui se rebutent au début ; nouvelle vie, nouvelle identité, Gertrude devient Marie-Desneige. S'en suit un idylle amoureuse touchante et lumineuse.

Reggie Dunlop (Paul Newman) is the aging player-coach of the Charlestown Chiefs hockey team in the fictional Federal League. A perennial loser for years, the team's manager Joe McGrath (Strother Martin) has resorted to extreme cost-cutting techniques and embarrassing promotional antics to keep local interest alive. Dunlop, while not particularly talented as either a player or coach, is a skilled con man, and regularly manipulates the team to his own advantage. During a hopeless season, the Chiefs pick up the Hanson Brothers, bespectacled violent goons with childlike mentalities, complete with toys in their luggage. Horrified at being given players who seem stupid, immature, and unreliable, Dunlop initially chooses not to play them.

Short Eyes is set in an unnamed prison in New York City, whose inmates are predominantly black or Puerto Rican. One day, Clark Davis, a young, middle-class white man accused of raping a young girl, arrive. His fellow prisoners immediately turn on him — pedophiles are considered the lowest form of prison life — except for Juan, one of the institution's older prisoners, who treats him with dignity. While Davis insists he doesn't remember raping the girl, he admits that he has molested several other children.
