Add to a movie listNeil Simon's I Ought to Be in Pictures (also known simply as I Ought to Be in Pictures) is a 1982 American comedy-drama film directed by Herbert Ross and based on Neil Simon's play of the same name. The film stars Walter Matthau, Ann-Margret, and Dinah Manoff (the only one to reprise her role in the movie). Other actors who have supporting roles are Lance Guest, Eugene Butler, David Faustino, Martin Ferrero and Michael Dudikoff.
The film was released on March 26, 1982, a year after the original broadway show ended and was filmed mainly in Los Angeles, California.
Synopsis
A 19-year-old Brooklynite, Libby Tucker (Dinah Manoff), visiting her dead grandma's grave at a New York cemetery, reveals that she is moving to Hollywood to become an actress and find her father, screenwriter Herbert Tucker. Libby takes a bus to Denver, then hitchhikes the rest of the way. Libby then tries to call Herb but gets nervous and hangs up.Actors

Al Lewis (George Burns) and Willy Clark (Walter Matthau) are two old comedians who were once a popular vaudeville comedy act known as "Lewis and Clark" and also called the Sunshine Boys. After 43 years together, they parted ways 11 years ago on unfriendly terms and have not spoken to each other since then. The break-up was due, in part, to Al's intent to retire and Willy's desire to continue performing. Willy's nephew, Ben (Richard Benjamin), a talent agent, tries finding work for Willy, which proves difficult due to Willy's age and blustery temperament.

Annelle Dupuy (Daryl Hannah), a reserved and ditzy beauty school graduate, is hired by Truvy Jones (Dolly Parton) to work in her home-based beauty salon in northwestern Louisiana. Felix est un écrivain raté qui habite un modeste hôtel meublé. Doris, sa voisine, travaille dans le milieu du sexe, elle a tourné dans un film X, fait la gogo danseuse, et se prostitue. Felix qui ignore ses activités l'aperçoit dans une tenue équivoque par sa fenêtre, prend ses jumelles, et se rend compte que de l'argent est échangé. Il la dénonce auprès du logeur qui la flanque de suite à la porte. Doris ne s'en laisse pas compter et parvient à pénétrer et à s'incruster chez Felix en exigeant qu'il l'héberge pour la nuit. Le ton finira par monter et une violente dispute attirera tout le voisinage. Le logeur intervient et met Felix à la porte. Felix et Doris réussissent à se faire héberger chez un ami. S'ensuivra un jeu de chat et de la souris entre eux deux, leurs univers très différents ne cesseront de s'opposer parfois très violemment, mais ils finiront par se rapprocher l'un de l'autre. À la fin, ils décident de faire comme s'ils venaient seulement de se rencontrer et partent ensemble.

Like the play, the film is divided into three acts, all set in Suite 719 of New York City's Plaza Hotel. The first focuses on not-so-blissfully wedded couple Sam and Karen Nash, who are revisiting their honeymoon suite in an attempt - by Karen - to bring the love back into their marriage.
