The plot is lifted from 2007 film Namastey London. Vipul shah filed a case against producers and they gave a penalty of Rs. 150 million. The film was recorded as an All Time Blockbuster.
Synopsis
It is a romantic-drama/comedy film. Subhashree portrays an N.R.I girl living in London whose father (portrayed by Biswajit Chakraborty) wants her to get married with an Indian lad. However, Subhasree's character is deeply involved in a yet-platonic relationship with a half-Brit boy Harry. Subhasree's brother (played by Tota Roy Choudhury) is involved in a relationship with a British girl and wants to marry her. However, his father refuses to let him marry the girl and this event promptly induces him to leave his parents' home. Meanwhile, Subhasree's father manages to bring his wife and daughter to India where he can find a suitable groom for his daughter. This is where they meet Dev, a quintessential charming Bengali lad who falls head-on in love with Subhasree and their marriage is invariably finalized since Dev's father is an old friend of Subhasree's Dad as well. However, although Subhasree evidently likes Dev, she hatches a plan to delay and finally, annul the engagement by implementing her brother's plan of bringing Dev to London and 'breaking up' with him abroad. Poran Jai Jolia Re is the story of how Dev manages to win his love over all adversities in a foreign land.Actors

Madhusudan Dutta (Soham Chakraborty),a mad citizen of Kolkata is crazy about marrying a Canadian girl to get the citizenship of Canada while on the other side Riya (Mimi Chakraborty) a classy modern girl wants to go to Canada to study fashion designing. They both first meet at the passport office where Madhusudan asks Riya to fill his form because his hand was injured which he was pretending because of his lack of English. They both again meet at the airport and they always have fight due to this.Riya looks for a nice accommodation where she finds a nice house and while getting money out of the ATM, she gets robbed by two thugs. Unfortunately, Riya has to look for cheaper place where she meets Madhusudan again and has to share that apartment with him. A day arrives when Jenny a Canadian Caucasian girl, arrives to the house where Riya and Madhusudan are living as she is the step-daughter of the house owner. Riya asks Madhusudan to propose Jenny and they both start making plans how to get Jenny for Madhusudan, but when Madhusudan comes to know that Jenny is going to Africa for social service, he ditches her and poor Jenny is left heartbroken. The owner of the house throws both of them out and they work at two different Horo Parboti restaurants that are run by wife and husband, who are not together now. Madhusudan and Riya soon come to know that the Horo Parboti is going to be re-possessed by the bank because of six months unpaid property payments for the loan.Madhusudan and Riya work out the process of re-joining the husband and wife together so that the loan could be paid off. Slowly,Madhusudan and Riya start falling for each other but both of them don't want to admit it.Madhusudan realises that he loves Riya when Riya's fiancé, Bikram(Abir Chatterjee) comes to take Riya with him to India for their marriage. Finally Madhusudan leaves for India with a hope to bring Riya back to his life but after watching Riya has been married he is left heart broken. After a while,he meets Bikram at cinema hall where Bikram tells him that Riya is still single and Madhusudan runs to propose Riya and they live happily ever after.

The film begins with a baby taking his initial steps on a beach while the father is supporting him. The narrator in the background (Prasenjit) states that, it is right for a father to support his child in his infancy, but questions whether the father should continue to hold the child’s hand even after he is 24 years old. The film is a love story between a rich boy and a poor girl. Although they have been friends for years, Indra and Shantanu have grown apart and have little in common. The widowed Indra is a poor engineer who lives in a humble house in the country. Shantanu is a rich man with a vast business empire, with little time for old friends. However, when Indra prepares to work abroad, he turns to Shantanu to solve a problem. Will Shantanu let Indra's sister Puja (Payel Sarkar) stay at his house? Shantanu cannot turn down his old friend's request, and Puja comes to live with Shantanu's family. At first country girl Puja is ill at ease in the huge mansion. She is befriended by Shantanu's son Rahul (Dev), who assures her that he has no romantic interest in her and that a boy and a girl can be platonic friends. The pair share outings and confidences, and all seems to be going well. Then Rahul takes Puja to a party put on by some of his rich friends. They humiliate Puja and accuse her of scheming to marry Rahul. Puja leaves in tears and distances herself from Rahul. At that point, Rahul suddenly realizes that he has fallen in love with her. With aid of his mother (who likes the unassuming Puja) and his comic friend Manohar, Rahul sets out to win Puja's heart.

The story is one of the pivotal characters, Mina narrating the story so far and introducing the family members to the audience. Mina is no more. Her husband Rohit and son Rony live in Singapore, but they have no contact with Mina's family because Mina had married against her family's will. Presently, Chumki, Mina's cousin is to get married. Her mother Sabitri Devi and most of her family wants Rohit to be a part of the wedding but her father is against it. However Sabitri Devi is stubborn and ultimately succeeds in being able to invite Rohit for the wedding. Rohit is welcomed by the entire family except Pratap Narayan and his son. Rohit is constantly humiliated by the two of them but he doesn't lose hope and does not get hostile. He also explains to Rony as to why he is unwanted in the family. Meanwhile, Mina's twin sister, Rina comes home. Rony looks up to her as his mother while Rohit and she get closer. Rohit and Rony are slowly accepted by Pratap Narayan but things complicate again when Rina's marriage is fixed elsewhere. Rina insists on marrying Rohit but he does not want to face the family rejection again. In the meantime, a letter written by Rina and addressed to Rohit falls into Pratap Narayan's hands and he drives Rohit out of his house again. Things finally are settled and Pratap Narayan goes to the station to get Rohit back.
