Synopsis
Brigitte Lecanu lives on the countryside as the wife of a cattle breeder. During a party at the neighbour's Brigitte gets to know a younger man from Paris who adores her. Feeling flattered she pretends to have to visit a dermatologist in Paris. After her devotee has disappointed her she begins an affair with a Danish businessman. Her husband Xavier follows her to Paris, hoping to save their marriage.Actors

Ancienne baba-cool et globe-trotter, Babou ne s'est jamais préoccupée des conventions ni de sa réussite sociale. Anouk, élève de collège, passe son stage de troisième dans la société d'assurance de sa mère Cyrielle Lequellec. Remisée à des tâches subalternes par des employées indélicates, elle ne tarde pas à s'ennuyer. Un jour, elle assiste à une plainte d'une assurée, Nadia Choukri, qui ne comprend pas pourquoi elle ne reçoit pas l'assurance-vie de son mari après son décès. Anouk constate que sa mère Cyrielle étudie le dossier de Nadia avec peu d'attention et de complaisance. Choquée par l'injustice faite à cette femme, elle va mener sa petite enquête pour essayer de lui venir en aide, car elle la sent menacée de se retrouver SDF avec ses deux enfants. Elle accède subrepticement au dossier et fait des découvertes sur les pratiques de la société d'assurance et de sa mère.

For his first full-length film, Cédric Klapisch relates the story of a Parisian department store through its employees. A new director, Monsieur Lepetit, is named at the head of the company so as to save it from bankruptcy. To this end, he decides to create a company spirit with group psychotherapy, bungee jumping and other tricks. In this first film Klapisch's main purpose was to show the difference between the behavior of a person when he is alone and when he is in a group. In order to show this, he filmed the employees during their commute, at work and in other scenes of daily life, which made Klapisch style's reputation. This topic will become recurrent in many of his films. At the end of the film he succeeds in saving the company, nevertheless the store is sold to build a hotel.

Jerzy is a Polish filmmaker working at a big studio in Switzerland shooting a series of tableaux vivants for a feature film. His producer Lászlo is impatient because there is no apparent story to this film and Jerzy keeps canceling the shoot, repeatedly citing difficulties with the lighting. In the process of making his film, Jerzy has gotten involved with two local women: Isabelle, an earnest young factory worker with a stutter, and Hanna, the worldly German owner of the hotel where the crew is staying. Hanna is married to Michel, an arrogant man with a chronic cough who owns the factory where Isabelle works.

Sur la côte marseillaise, une petite tribu a ses habitudes au cabaret de Joséfa, le « Perroquet Bleu » qui périclite faute de clients. Les copains marginaux ou en perdition sociale se rassemblent au bar : il y a Jaco, chômeur et malheureux en ménage, Patrick, un autre chômeur marié avec Marie-Sol, femme de ménage qui ne tarde pas à rejoindre leur clan après avoir refusé les avances de son patron et enfin Otto, un ancien légionnaire. Le bon ami de Joséfa, José, qui fait office de barman, recueille un jour Vénus, une jeune droguée. Tout ce petit monde se retrouve bientôt hébergé au Perroquet Bleu dans un bel élan solidaire. Les difficultés ne continuent pas moins de s’accroître : la femme et les enfants de Jaco le quittent, la situation financière s'aggrave pour tous, le cabaret menace faillite et enfin, le drame : Patrick se suicide pour que sa famille puisse toucher l'assurance-vie.
