Reefer Madness, also known as Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical, is a 2005 American made-for-television musical comedy film adapted from the musical of the same name based on the 1936 exploitation film also of the same title. The film, directed by Andy Fickman, written by Kevin Murphy and Dan Studney, and produced by the three, premiered on Showtime on April 16, 2005.

The film stars Kristen Bell, Christian Campbell, and John Kassir reprising their stage roles, with the notable addition of Alan Cumming and Ana Gasteyer in other lead roles, with Campbell's sister Neve making a cameo appearance as Miss Poppy. Robert Torti, who played the characters of both Jack and Jesus onstage, portrays only the latter in this version.

Synopsis

The Lecturer tells an assembly of American parents about the evils of marijuana ("Reefer Madness"). He then launches into the tragic tale of one boy's struggles with the demon weed in the form of a film titled "Tell Your Children". At times, the Lecturer stops the film whenever he details a plot point or to condescend anyone who questions said plot points, such as Mr. Kochinski, whom he calls a commie.

Viola Hastings (Amanda Bynes) is a smart-mouthed high school soccer player at Cornwall, which suddenly cuts its girls' team. After her request to join the boys' team is refused by the sexist coach, she finds a way to play for Cornwall's rivals, Illyria, an elite boarding school team that her twin brother, Sebastian (James Kirk), is supposed to enroll at as a new student. However, he is hoping to go to a contest in London with his fledging band, so he asks Viola to cover for him by telling the school that he is sick. She agrees but, unbeknownst to him, decides to pass herself off as Sebastian instead, in hopes of beating Cornwall and humiliating her cocky ex-boyfriend, Justin (Robert Hoffman). Eleven-year-old orphan Annie was left at a girls' orphanage when she was an infant. The realm is divided between a land of fairies and light, and a land of bog creatures living in the dark forest. Wyatt Frame (Alan Cumming) is an executive with record label MegaRecords. The label, headed by the trend-conscious and scheming Fiona (Parker Posey), manufactures faddish pop bands for consumption by the teenage market. Conspiring with the United States government, they add subliminal messages under the music to brainwash teens into buying their records and other consumer products, creating "a new trend every week". Elsa plans to give Anna a perfect surprise birthday party with the help of Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf. However, after planning the party and as Anna is being led on a "party treasure hunt," by following a string that winds through the kingdom, Elsa finds that she has caught a cold. She starts sneezing and unknowingly produces a group of small snowmen much like Olaf with each sneeze, who proceed to wreak havoc with the birthday party's decorations, much to Kristoff's chagrin as they have been left by Elsa to watch the birthday decorations to make sure Anna's birthday is perfect. While Elsa takes Anna on the hunt, Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf try to control the little snowmen and fix back the decorations in time for Anna and Elsa's return to the castle.

In 1607, the Susan Constant sails to the New World from England, carrying British settlers of the Virginia Company. On board are Captain John Smith and the voyage's leader Governor Ratcliffe, who seeks large amounts of gold in the New World to assure a strong position at the British court. Chief Powhatan gives Pocahontas her deceased mother's necklace as a present. Pocahontas, along with her friends, the gluttonous raccoon Meeko and hot-tempered hummingbird Flit, visit Grandmother Willow, a spiritual talking willow tree, and speaks of a possibly prophetic dream involving a spinning arrow, and her confusion regarding what her "path" in life should be. Grandmother Willow then alerts Pocahontas to the arriving British.

In September 1963, Seymour Krelborn (Rick Moranis) and his colleague, Audrey (Ellen Greene), work at Mushnik's Flower Shop, lamenting they cannot escape the slums of New York City, living in a run-down, beat up neighborhood referred to as "Skid Row." Immediately attracting a customer, Seymour explains he bought the plant, which he dubbed "Audrey II", from a Chinese flower shop during a solar eclipse. Attracting business to Mushnik's shop, the plant soon starts dying, worrying Seymour. Accidentally pricking his finger, he then discovers Audrey II needs human blood to thrive.
