The 100 Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared (2013)

The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared (Swedish: Hundraåringen som klev ut genom fönstret och försvann) is a 2013 Swedish comedy film directed by Felix Herngren based on the novel of the same name by Jonas Jonasson. The film was screened in the Berlinale Special Gala section of the 64th Berlin International Film Festival.

The film was a huge success, having been screened in more than 40 countries and grossing more than 50 million US dollars worldwide, making it the third highest grossing Swedish film of all time, only beaten by The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Män som hatar kvinnor) and The Girl Who Played with Fire (Flickan som lekte med elden). There has been talk of a possible sequel but that has yet to be confirmed.

Synopsis

Alan Karlsson, homme ordinaire au destin extraordinaire, qui a connu la guerre et rencontré les personnalités les plus influentes, est sur le point de fêter ses 100 ans. Alors que les infirmières de sa maison de retraite, dans laquelle il s'est retrouvé enfermé malgré lui après avoir commis un petit forfait, s'affairent à préparer son gâteau d'anniversaire, avec comme il se doit 100 bougies, l'homme décide de s'enfuir par la fenêtre et de partir le plus loin possible sans savoir où il va. Il y fera la connaissance d'un autre vieillard et se retrouvera poursuivi par des redoutables gangsters à qui il a subtilisé sans le savoir une valise contenant 50 millions de couronnes.
