Il a été sélectionné dans le cadre de la Semaine internationale de la critique au festival de Cannes 2016 et y a reçu le Grand Prix du Rail d'or. Il a également reçu le prix Découverte au Festival du film francophone de Namur en octobre 2016.
Le titre original Rabih correspond au prénom du héros du film, Rabih Malek ; il signifie « printemps » en arabe.
Synopsis
Rabih, un jeune chanteur aveugle, parcourt le Liban après avoir découvert qu’il n’était pas le fils biologique de ses parents. Sa quête d’identité, son désir d’accompagner sa chorale à l’étranger et la recherche de son oncle disparu et seul détenteur de la vérité, se confondent en une même fébrilité. A travers cette quête, Rabih dresse le portrait d’une nation toute entière incapable de relater sa propre Histoire.Actors

The Kite is set in a village called Deir Mimas over the border of the pre-occupied territories in southern Lebanon (occupied by Israel). The 16-year-old Lebanese girl Lamia (Flavia Bechara) lives with her family in the village. Her family had promised to marry her off to her cousin Samy (Edmond Haddad), who lives on the Israel side. Lamia’s mother, Amira (Randa Asmar) was unwilling and dejected to send her daughter away because that meant that Lamia could never come back because of the tense political situation at the border.

Reggie Dunlop (Paul Newman) is the aging player-coach of the Charlestown Chiefs hockey team in the fictional Federal League. A perennial loser for years, the team's manager Joe McGrath (Strother Martin) has resorted to extreme cost-cutting techniques and embarrassing promotional antics to keep local interest alive. Dunlop, while not particularly talented as either a player or coach, is a skilled con man, and regularly manipulates the team to his own advantage. During a hopeless season, the Chiefs pick up the Hanson Brothers, bespectacled violent goons with childlike mentalities, complete with toys in their luggage. Horrified at being given players who seem stupid, immature, and unreliable, Dunlop initially chooses not to play them.
