Synopsis
Ford Coleman (Chris Fogleman) is a young actor trying to start his career in Los Angeles. His friend Tripp (William Gregory Lee) has already given up making it in the music business, and now takes drugs and lives off of Ford. When Ford's money runs out, Tripp comes up with the idea of selling drugs to supermodels to make money, and Ford goes along so they won't be evicted, and he can keep taking acting classes from James Comey (Ed Begley, Jr.) with the girl of his dreams, Gwen (Amber Benson)Actors

C.D. "Charlie" Bales (Steve Martin), the fire chief of a small American ski town in Washington, is intelligent, humorous, charismatic, athletic and skilled. He is close to many in town, especially his godsister, Dixie (Shelley Duvall), who owns the town diner and several rental homes. He becomes immediately attracted to beautiful newcomer Roxanne Kowalski (Daryl Hannah), an astronomy student in town for the summer searching for a new comet. She adores Bales, but only as a friend, preferring Chris (Rick Rossovich), a handsome but dim fireman who has just joined Bales's unit to help turn it around. In Los Angeles, the wealthy aspirant writer Donna and her best friend (also aspirant designer) Christi Ann are bored of relationships and decide to chase two escorts in a bar for a one night stand. Meanwhile, construction workers and best friends, Stanny and Joe, come from New York but can't find jobs in Los Angeles. Without money, the guys decide to go to a fancy bar to drink and leave the place without paying the bill. Donna and Christi Ann meet Stanny and Joe and invite them home believing they are gigolos. After a night of sex, the women discover the misunderstanding and that the men are, indeed, unemployed construction workers. The women offer to have the men stay in their swimming pool cabana, furnishing them with beer and food while the boys search for jobs. In return, they would be their on-call "boy-toys" in a strictly sexual relationship. During the ensuing months, the couples become closer and change their feelings and behaviors with the development and growing of their relationships as the couples begin to develop romantic feelings.
