Who Killed Mary What's 'Er Name? (also known as Death of a Hooker) is a 1971 film starring comedian and actor Red Buttons and featuring Sylvia Miles, Conrad Bain, Alice Playten and Sam Waterston. Ernest Pintoff was the director, and Gary McFarland wrote the soundtrack music.

The plot centers around the murder of a prostitute in a crime-ridden low-income city neighborhood. Dismayed by the general indifference the police and neighbors show toward the murder, a resident who knew the prostitute sets out to do his own investigation of the case.

The film was rated PG despite the fact that it dealt with topics including prostitution and murder.

Since its original theatrical release, the film was only released on VHS (distributed by Video Gems in 1982), and is now out-of-print.

Three women start a lunch wagon business, but run into resistance from their competitor Mr. Schmeckler (Rick Podell) when their business starts interfering with illegal activity that Schmeckler is involved in. While Schmeckler busies himself trying to sabotage their wagon, the women are busy falling in love with construction workers and rock stars. Meanwhile, two bumbling diamond thieves create complications for both sides. It is most notable for being the first major exposure for the band Missing Persons, credited here as "U.S. Drag", with their songs "Mental Hopscotch" and "I Like Boys" featuring prominently on the soundtrack.

Harvey Middleman (Eugene Troobnick), a New York City fireman, lives happily in a New Jersey suburb with his wife (Arlene Golonka) and two small children. Lois and Dinny quickly fall in love and Harvey is left to return to his wife.
