Storm (Ororo Munroe) is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, commonly associated with the X-Men. The character first appeared in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (May 1975), and was created by writer Len Wein and artist Dave Cockrum.
The daughter of a tribal princess from Kenya, but raised in Harlem and Cairo, Storm is a member of a fictional subspecies of humanity known as mutants, who are born with superhuman abilities. Storm has the ability to control the weather and can fly. She is a member of the X-Men, a group of mutant heroes who fight for peace and equality between mutants and humans. Possessed of natural leadership skills and some of the most formidable powers in her team, Storm has led the X-Men from time to time, and has also been a member of the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. As an adult, Storm married her fellow superhero Black Panther, and was by marriage made queen consort of the African nation of Wakanda, but lost this title when they divorced.
The character is one of the most prominent X-Men, having appeared in many X-Men incarnations. Storm appears in four installments of the live-action X-Men film series, where she is portrayed by actress Halle Berry and will be played by Alexandra Shipp in X-Men: Apocalypse.
Biography
Ororo Munroe est la fille d'une princesse africaine d'une tribu du Kenya. Bien qu'elle n'ait jamais développé ce talent, ses ancêtres ont un don naturel pour la sorcellerie. Son père, David Munroe, est un journaliste photographe américain. Ses parents tombent amoureux, se marient et s'installent aux États-Unis. Ororo naît à New York puis suit ses parents, à l'âge de six mois, pour s'installer au Caire, en Égypte.Quelques années plus tard, au moment de la crise du canal de Suez, un avion détruit sa maison et tue ses parents. Ororo se retrouve prisonnière des décombres, sous le corps sans vie de sa mère. Elle sort totalement bouleversée par cette expérience et développe même une claustrophobie sévère. Elle termine son enfance dans les rues, vivant de vols sous la tutelle d'un maître voleur nommé Achmed el-Gibar. Elle devient une experte en pickpocket, cambriolages et vols en tout genre. Elle croisera brièvement le Pr. Xavier à cette époque.
Elle finit par quitter l'Égypte, son instinct l'attirant vers les plaines du Kenya qu'elle atteindra après plusieurs mois de marche à travers les déserts. Là, elle découvre la faculté de contrôler les éléments et de voguer sur les courants aériens. Elle sera adulée comme une déesse dans une tribu du Sérengeti. C'est là que le Professeur Xavier la retrouve et l'invite à rejoindre les X-Men aux États-Unis. Ororo accepte et prend le nom de Tornade (Storm en version originale).
Bien qu'Ororo connaisse quelques difficultés à s'acclimater, elle se lie d'amitié avec ses équipiers. Elle se révèle comme chef intérimaire des X-Men lorsque Cyclope quitte temporairement le groupe (il le fera plusieurs fois). Lorsque la jeune Kitty Pryde est recrutée par Xavier, elle se rapproche tout de suite d'elle, la considérant pratiquement comme sa fille.
Tornade connaît ensuite de profonds changements de personnalité. Alors que les X-Men combattent une race extraterrestre (les Brood) et passent une longue période loin de la Terre, elle devient plus agressive et plus violente. Elle transforme son apparence, s'habille en cuir après sa rencontre avec Yukio, une amie de Wolverine, jeune rōnin, ce qui a pour effet de la couper d'Étincelle. Elle combat Callisto pour conquérir la direction de l'équipe des Morlocks et gagne en frappant sa rivale en plein cœur. Celle-ci ne doit sa survie qu'aux pouvoirs de guérison d'un autre Morlock. Elles restent ennemies pour une longue période jusqu'à se qu'elles se réconcilient et se fassent de nouveau confiance lorsque Tornade demande à Callisto de rechercher Xavier à Genosha.
Tornade se mariera avec la Panthère Noire (T'Challa) et elle devient la reine du Wakanda. Avec celui-ci, Ororo remplacera Mr.Fantastic (Red Richards) et l'Invisible (Susan Storm). Puis, lors de la guerre civile des super-héros (Civil War), elle suivra son mari aux côtés de Captain America. Mais lors de la guerre opposant les X-men et les Avengers, pour savoir si Phénix est dangereux, la Panthère Noire se rangera aux côtés des Vengeurs tandis que Tornade reste fidèle à Cyclope et aux X-men ce qui entrainera leur séparation. Tornade engagera aussi une relation avec Wolverine jusqu'à la mort brutale et violente de celui-ci.

In the future, robots known as Sentinels are exterminating mutants and their human allies. A band of mutants, including Kitty Pryde, Colossus, Iceman, Bishop, Warpath, Blink and Sunspot, evade the Sentinels due to Pryde's ability to send a person's consciousness to the past. Pryde's group convenes with Logan, Storm, Professor Charles Xavier, and Erik Lehnsherr at a monastery in China. Pryde sends Logan's consciousness 50 years back in time to 1973 to prevent Mystique from assassinating Dr. Bolivar Trask, creator of the Sentinels. Following the assassination, Mystique was captured, and her DNA was used by Trask's company to improve the Sentinels, whose ability to adapt to any mutant power makes them almost invincible. Xavier and Lehnsherr advise Logan to find both of their younger selves for help.

In 1944 German-occupied Poland, 13-year-old Erik Lehnsherr is separated from his parents upon entering a concentration camp. While attempting to reach them he causes a set of metal gates to bend towards him, as though attracted by a magnetic force, before being knocked out by guards. Decades later, Senator Robert Kelly attempts to pass a "Mutant Registration Act" in Congress which would force mutants to publicly reveal their identities and abilities.
