Aaron Norris (born November 23, 1951 in Gardena, California) is an American film producer, director, and actor. He is the younger brother of Chuck Norris (born March 10, 1940), actor, and Wieland Clyde Norris (1943–1970). During the Vietnam war, both Aaron and his older brother Wieland enlisted in the United States Army. Wieland was killed in action in Vietnam in 1970. Aaron and Chuck went on to Hollywood fame.

The main character, J.J. McQuade (Norris), is a former Marine and a Texas Ranger who prefers to work alone. He lives in an old trailer in the middle of nowhere with a pet wolf. The film opens with McQuade involved in an intense battle with Mexican bandits and a gang of horse thieves from which he emerges unscathed (saving several Texas State Troopers). Shaking off the dust, McQuade returns to El Paso, Texas to attend the retirement ceremony of his fellow Ranger and close friend Dakota (Jones). After the party, his commander attempts to curb his "lone wolf" attitude by insisting he work with local Texas State Trooper Kayo Ramos (Beltran), a tough but clean-cut and polite Latino. Although divorced, McQuade is on very good terms with his ex-wife, and loves his teenage daughter Sally. McQuade also seems to like Sally's boyfriend Bobby, who is enlisted in the US Army and is respectful of McQuade being a retired Marine.

Back in 1973, one United States Senator Conrad Morgan (James Franciscus), the chief delegate diplomat in negotiating the terms of the end of Vietnam War, made a deal in Paris, France with Kuong Yen, the North Vietnamese negotiator. The deal called for Yen to release certain key CIA POWs in exchange for Morgan setting up a death-trap for an elite group of CIA assassins, known as the Black Tigers. The treaty signed, the Black Tigers were sent into the jungles of 'Nam to their unknowing demise, under the guise that they were on mission to liberate American POWs. However, the truly important thing to understand is that the negotiators failed to realize one thing: the commando's team leader was one Major John T. Booker (Chuck Norris). So, needless to say and despite all odds, Booker survives. As do the four men wise enough to have remained in his general vicinity.

Ranger Captain Walker and Rangers Francis Gage and Rhett Harper are involved in a shooting at a bank where a group of robbers hijack the operators. Ranger Harper kills two of the robbers while the leader is able to escape. A form of guidance missile accidentally ends up in the hands of a thirteen-year-old who does not know that three Koreans, who are very skilled in combat, is what they're looking for. The criminals go to the kid's house where they kill his father. The boy manages to escape, but the criminals remit to look for work. Jimmy has to leave for a family vacation and away from the group, while Gage is following the case of the boy, helped by the Ranger Kay Austin. As if that were not enough a girl with whom he had an appointment Ranger Harper is killed and all evidence leads to Ranger Harper.

The film opens with a campfire story being told by Clovis Madison (Roscoe Lee Browne) to a group of children, about a man named John McKenna (Chuck Norris) who was killed a century ago in the Tanglewood forest while fighting bandits. Shatter (Chuck Norris) and Jackson (Calvin Levels) are two Chicago police officers sent to investigate the brutal murder of a rabbi. As the investigation begins, Shatter and Jackson are summoned to Israel for questioning. Upon arrival, they realize that they are, in fact, pursuing a supernatural being - Satan's emissary, Prosatanos - who tried to wrest control of the world from God during the crusades. Prosatanos, however, was stopped by King Richard who trapped him in a subterranean tomb. During this encounter with King Richard, the source of Prosatanos' power - his scepter - was shattered into nine pieces which were subsequently sent to nine holy places around the world. These pieces remained safe until the end of the 20th century when Prosatanos was inadvertently freed from the tomb by two unsuspecting grave robbers. Prosatanos eventually collects all nine pieces of his scepter. Detectives Shatter and Jackson must now fight him to save the world.
