Il apprend plusieurs formes d'artisanat dans des écoles de l'Arizona, avant de suivre ses études à la New School for the Arts. Pendant une douzaine d'années, il se consacre aux arts martiaux et remporte de nombreux championnats de karaté et de capœira. C'est à cette occasion qu'il travaille comme cascadeur avec Andy Cheng. Très recherché pour ses talents de cascadeur, il a collaboré avec les chorégraphes Raoul Trujillo, Rulan Tangen et Santee Smith. Membre de la troupe Dancing Earth, il s'est produit dans le monde entier et notamment devant la famille royale de Jordanie. The film takes place in the 1890s, with 2 men, one younger and the other much older, attacking and killing travelers camping in plains of the Wild West. After killing several men at a campsite by slitting their throats open, they steal their valuables and begin burning unneeded books and possessions. However, they desist after hearing a bizarre series of howls in the distance, and make for a nearby valley to avoid any pursuers. While traversing the valley, they come across a burial site, where the older man is attacked and savagely killed by an unseen figure. The younger man fires upon the figure as it charges at him, and the film cuts to black.

A van arrives at a gas station, where a nearby newspaper announces an "unidentified girl found dead in forest". The van belongs to a group of seven friends – Michael, Lyla, TJ, Claire, Lex, Rose, and Guy – who are traveling to a mutual friend's cabin in the woods for a vacation.
