Alison Sealy-Smith (born 1959) is a Barbadian actress, born and raised in Barbados.

Sealy-Smith attended Mount Allison University (New Brunswick, Canada) where she studied psychology on a scholarship. She is the founding director of Obsidian Theatre, a company that specializes in Black Canadian drama. Sealy-Smith was awarded a Dora Mavor Moore Award for her 1997 star turn in Djanet Sears' Harlem Duet.
Her film and television credits have included the series Street Legal, This is Wonderland and The Line, and a recurring role in Kevin Hill. She also had a small role in the 1998 film My Date with the President's Daughter.

Sealy-Smith also provided voices in various cartoons such as Storm on the 1990s X-Men and Scarlett on the cartoon Delilah and Julius. She also played Sergeant Rose in the film Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen opposite Lindsay Lohan. She has also appeared in many Hollywood films, including Honey opposite Jessica Alba, Dark Water with Jennifer Connelly and Talk to Me with Don Cheadle. As of the mid-2000s, she has a recurring role as Ms. Mann in the children's series Naturally, Sadie. In 2009, she performed as Nurse Lydia in the HBO Canada series Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures.

Her daughter Makyla Smith is also an actress.

Biography

Alison Sealy-Smith a étudié la psychologie à l’université Mount Allison, au Nouveau-Brunswick. Actrice de théâtre renommée, elle a fondé la compagnie de l’Obsidian Theatre à Toronto. Cette troupe se spécialise dans la mise en scène de pièces d’auteurs canadiens d’ascendance africaine ou caribéenne.

Elle a tenu un rôle récurrent dans la série télévisée canadienne Street Legal et son nom est apparu au générique d’épisodes de Kevin Hill, This is Wonderland ou The Line. Elle a aussi joué un petit rôle dans le téléfilm Rendez-vous à la Maison-Blanche produit par Buena Vista.

Unable to afford the tuition needed to fund her private school education, Rayanna or Raya (Rutina Wesley) returns to her family home in the city while reluctantly re-evaluating her future. Now, if Raya has any hope of realizing her medical school dreams, she will have to either earn back Bishop's trust or organize her own dance crew and start over from scratch. Frank Falenczyk (Ben Kingsley) is a hit man for his Polish mob family in Buffalo, New York. Miss Flora Spider has been living happily with her new husband Holley, but becomes nervous when she hatches five eggs on the same day. She worries about becoming a mother ever since her mother abandoned her when she hatched, but her foster mother Betty Beetle tells her she has nothing to worry about. When the eggs hatch out five new spiders, the family becomes overjoyed. Years pass and as spider kids grew up, the family find an egg and start to decorate it. Thinking its mother is looking for it, Squirt, one of the spiderlings, decides to return it. While going through the forest, he comes upon three kid bandits: Dragon the dragonfly, Shimmer the jewel beetle, and Bounce the bedbug. When the young spider explains that he is looking for its mother, Bounce revels that they don't have parents either, although Dragon says their still looking for them. Shimmer decide that they should tag along and help Squirt. Suddenly, Spiderus, a vicious spider who was jealous after Miss Spider chose Holley over him, arrives and tries take the egg, but the kids manage to scare him away. Meanwhile, Miss Spider has discovered that Squirt is missing and fears for the worst. She and Holley decide to go find him. With the help of Spiderus, they now know where Squirt is. Snow starts to fall, and kids find Stinky, a stink bug, in his home and take shelter there until morning. By the time kids leave, the three adult spider already arrives, and Spiderus meets and falls in love with a female spider named Spindella. The kids arrive at a barn, where a hen, revealed to be the mother of the egg, attacks. Just as Squirt is about be eaten, Miss Spider and Holley arrives and save him. The egg hatches and is reunited with its mother. Squirt introduces his new friends to his parents. Miss Spider decide to adopt them, since eight is a perfect number. They are all overjoyed and return home. As the all kids sleep, Miss Spider now knows it doesn't matter what other bugs are, all that matters is that they're all family. Squirt is thought to be missing again, but h is soon found outside, flying on his web. The other kids to wake up and run outside and play.
