Born in Vienna, Eckert first studied literature in Paris, France, then decided on a stage career and trained with Dorothea Neff. Her roles have included the eponymous heroines in Hebbel's Judith, Schiller's Maria Stuart, Jelinek's Clara S., Sophocles's Elektra, Kleist's Penthesilea, and Maria Callas in Terrence McNally's Meisterklasse (Master Class).
Eckert has frequently appeared on television (for example in guest roles on Kommissar Rex) and in the cinema. She also made documentaries about Lucia Westerguard, Turhan Bey, and Leopold and Josefine Hawelka.
She lives in Vienna.
En septembre 2011, Eckert présente au Volkstheater en compagnie de Dorothea Neff la pièce Du bleibst bei mir de Felix Mitterer.
En décembre 2015, elle devient l'intendante du Raimundspiele Gutenstein.

Biography
Eckert fait d'abord des études de lettres à Paris avant de vouloir devenir actrice. Elle suit des cours de 1978 à 1981 auprès de Dorothea Neff et Eva Zilcher. Elle joue au Burgtheater de 1982 à 1986, au Landestheater Linz, au festival de Bad Hersfeld, à l'Ensembletheater, au Schauspielhaus de Vienne ainsi que dans des spectacles solos. Elle a un engagement au Volkstheater de Vienne. Elle tournera des documentaires sur des personnalités comme Walter Schmidinger, Eric Pleskow ou Josefine Hawelka.En septembre 2011, Eckert présente au Volkstheater en compagnie de Dorothea Neff la pièce Du bleibst bei mir de Felix Mitterer.
En décembre 2015, elle devient l'intendante du Raimundspiele Gutenstein.

The film starts on June 16, 1994 with Jesse meeting Céline on a train from Budapest and striking up a conversation with her. Jesse is going to Vienna to catch a flight back to the United States, whereas Céline is returning to university in Paris after visiting her grandmother. When they reach Vienna, Jesse convinces Céline to disembark with him, saying that 10 or 20 years down the road, she might not be happy with her marriage and might wonder how her life would have been different if she had picked another guy, and this is a chance to realize that he himself is not that different from the rest; in his words, he is "the same boring, unmotivated guy." Jesse has to catch a flight early in the morning and does not have enough money to rent a room for the night, so they decide to roam around in Vienna.
