Ario Bayu (born 6 February 1985) is an Indonesian actor. He is best known for his roles in Dead Time: Kala as Eros, Dead Mine as Captain Tino, and in the Hollywood production Java Heat as Lieutenant Hashim.
He studied at the Globe Theatre in London.
In his first break through role, Ario Bayu plays a detective in Dead Time: Kala, Indonesia's first tribute to film noir which won rave reviews from critics, directed by Joko Anwar.
In 2013, Ario played alongside Hollywood actress Joan Chen in HBO Asia's production Serangoon Road.
In Java Heat, Ario plays opposite Kellan Lutz and Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke.
In Soekarno: Indonesia Merdeka, Ario plays the protagonist Sukarno.

Biography
Born in Jakarta to Javanese parents, Ario Bayu had spent nearly all of his formative years in the town of Hamilton, New Zealand, where his father studied and then went into business. He returned to Indonesia in 2004 with the intent to pursue his acting and music ambitions.He studied at the Globe Theatre in London.
In his first break through role, Ario Bayu plays a detective in Dead Time: Kala, Indonesia's first tribute to film noir which won rave reviews from critics, directed by Joko Anwar.
In 2013, Ario played alongside Hollywood actress Joan Chen in HBO Asia's production Serangoon Road.

Soekarno is based on the life of Sukarno, the first Indonesian president. In 1931, The Dutch East Indies Government in Java Island captured Sukarno, an aspiring young man who wanted to free Indonesia from Dutch colonialism. He was then put in Banceuy Prison at Bandung, Indonesia. Sukarno found a way to fight back by delivering his famous defense oration "Indonesia Accuses!" Warren Price (Les Loveday), the son of a millionaire, is on a mission to explore a former Japanese military bunker on the island of Una-Una, Gulf of Tomini, Sulawesi, together with Japanese scientist Rie (Miki Mizuno), and Price's girlfriend Su-Ling (Carmen Soo). After being ambushed by pirates, the group are forced inside an abandoned Japanese military bunker where they become trapped. Wounded and desperate, they descend into the mine in search of a way out. It is revealed that Price actually wants to search for Yamashita's gold in the mine. Their search leads to some surprising findings; it transpires the bunker is a chemical and biological weapons research facility where the Japanese used prisoners of war as subjects for experiments. Worse yet, these monstrous test subjects still inhabit the mine. The treasure quest turned into a mission of life and death, the team must face these mysterious and deadly enemies.

In an unnamed dystopian country, two cops, Eros (Ario Bayu) and Hendro Waluyo (August Melasz) investigate a case of five people being burned alive after a woman shouted them as thieves. Meanwhile, a down-on-luck narcoleptic journalist, Janus (Fachry Albar), is late to attend his divorce with Sari (Shanty). He searches the recent news and meets the widow of one of the burned victims, a pregnant woman named Ratih. Sneaking on her conversation with a nurse through a hidden tape recorder, Janus later watches as Ratih is hit by a bus outside the hospital and passes out from his narcolepsy, mysteriously waking up inside the hospital afterwards. Janus and his friend, Soebandi, hear from the tape a Javanese prose quoted by Ratih of something that is in "Bukit Bendonowongso, in front of Candi Tujuh Anak Tangga". When the two part ways, a pale white-skinned creature, Pindoro (Yose Rizal Manua) follows Soebandi and apparently beheads him. Janus is taken for questioning by Eros; after the latter leaves, fellow cop Bambang Sutrisno (Frans Tumbuan) threatens Janus to tell him the contents of the tape.
