Bruno Bichir Nájera (né le 6 octobre 1967 à Mexico) est un acteur mexicain de cinéma, théâtre et télévision. Il fait partie de la famille Bichir, très présente dans le cinéma mexicain. Il a également réalisé un long métrage en 1989.

Biography

Bruno Bichir est né d'une famille d'artistes. Ses deux parents ainsi que ses deux frères ainés sont également acteurs et réalisateurs reconnus.
Après une apparition dans un film de 1977, Bruno a véritablement commencé sa carrière d'acteur à l'âge de 16 ans dans la production américaine Under Fire (1983). Il étudie au Centre de Formation Cinématographique de Mexico. À partir des années 1990, sa carrière s'accélère : il apparaît dans Rojo Amanecer de Jorge Fons et dans El patrullero, interprétation qui lui vaut sa première nomination aux Ariels. En 1995, il joue aux côtés de Salma Hayek, elle aussi d'origine libanaise, dans le film à succès critique et financier El callejón de los milagros.

En 1999, il produit et interprète Crónica de un desayuno, pour lequel il est nommé à l'Ariel du Meilleur Acteur en 2001. Après avoir joué aux côtés de son frère Demián dans la coproduction espagnole Sin noticias de Dios, ils sont tous deux nommés pour le Meilleur Bichir dans un film aux MTV Movie Awards de Mexico. Demián remporte le prix, et Bruno est à nouveau nommé l'année suivante pour Ciudades oscuras.

Pour la télévision, il apparaît dans trois telenovelas de Televisa avant de signer chez TV Azteca en 1999 pour Háblame de amor

Après avoir assassiné un avocat du gang des Matamoros à Mexico, Gillick et Matt kidnappent Isabela, la fille du chef de cartel Carlos Reyes, lors d'une opération sous fausse bannière. Toutefois, les choses ne se passent pas comme prévu et Gillick se retrouve rapidement seul à devoir lutter pour sa survie et celle d'Isabela, abandonnés par le gouvernement américain et traqués par les cartels mexicains.

El Santos, a fighter with an declining career, stoned and overweight, suffers from his recent divorce from La Tetona Mendoza, a voluptuous and feisty wild female wrestler. To get out of his depression, El Santos began a campaign to help Sahuayo Zombies. However, his philanthropic campaign soon became a very profitable business that leverages Santos for their benefit. The population suffers a zombie plague and La Tetona Mendoza threatens Santos if he doesn't eliminate the zombie invasion. However, El Peyote Asesino (eternal rival of Santos) gets rid of the zombies and therefore the affection of La Tetona. Soon the world realizes that being without zombies is worse than anyone could have ever imagined and the only way to save the nation is regenerating the zombie population. El Santos finds that his sidekick, El Cabo, is half human and half zombie (one of his parents was one) and by spreading his DNA the manage to start a zombie infection and save the day.

In California, an alcoholic named Julia (Tilda Swinton) is out of control, partying every night, and waking up in unknown homes with no memory of the previous night. The police discover her whereabouts and she flees, accidentally crashing her car through the wall dividing United States and Mexico. There, the boy is kidnapped in turn by Mexican kidnappers. Her friend Mitch (Saul Rubinek) arrives in Mexico and gives Julia the ransom money. During the exchange, the Mexican kidnappers escape with the money, leaving the boy safely with Julia.

In Heaven, the last ten years have been tough—Hell has been winning the battle between Good and Evil. The managers of Heaven receive a request by a mother to save her son's soul and see the possibility of winning the soul of a boxer named Manny (Demián Bichir) as an opportunity to shift the balance of power. Although Manny is severely in debt and is even thinking of suicide, Lola (Victoria Abril), an angel, is sent to Earth to take over the role of the boxer's wife. To counter this, Hell's manager Jack Davenport (Gael García Bernal) decides to send one of his more troublesome agents, Carmen (Penélope Cruz), who was a male ex-gangster punished by being converted into a waitress, to fight back by impersonating Manny's cousin. Though it starts out as a simple fight between heaven and hell for the soul of one man, a conspiracy in Hell and conflicting emotions interrupt the war between saints and sinners. Manny is overprotective of Lola and after looking through the porn magazines that Carmen reads, he suspects a relationship between Lola and Carmen. Suddenly Manny's soul becomes increasingly important and his weakened physical state creates a deadline by which he must go to Hell or Heaven. It is the job of the supernatural agents to tempt or save Manny. The obstinate womanizing boxer inconsistently shows signs of regret and change, for example when he writes a letter of apology to his mother but doesn't send it. His ups and downs make it a hard job for both Carmen and Lola.
