Oliver was born in Celle and grew up in Frankfurt am Main. He relocated to the US to work as a model and subsequently take acting lessons in New York and Los Angeles. From 2002 until 2004, Christian Oliver co-starred in 28 episodes of the German action TV series Alarm für Cobra 11.
En 2003, il rejoignit le casting de la série allemande Alerte Cobra où il incarne Jan Richter, le nouveau partenaire de Semir Gerkhan. Après trois saisons passées auprès d'Erdoğan Atalay, il décida de quitter la série pour retourner aux États-Unis afin d'élaborer de nouveaux projets. En 2006, il joue dans The Good German, de Steven Soderbergh, avec Cate Blanchett. En 2013, il donne la réplique à Tippi Hedren dans le film d'horreur The House of Good and Evil.

Christian a grandi à Francfort-sur-le-Main. Il a étudié à Francfort, New York puis Los Angeles. Entre 1994 et 1995, il apparait dans Sauvés par le gong : la nouvelle classe dans le rôle de Brian Keller. Il a joué dans la série V.I.P. aux côtés de Pamela Anderson. Il enchaîna les rôles pour le cinéma et la télévision.En 2003, il rejoignit le casting de la série allemande Alerte Cobra où il incarne Jan Richter, le nouveau partenaire de Semir Gerkhan. In a post-apocalyptic future where the survivors have banded together into ninja clans, representatives of the Lost Ninja Clan – brothers Cage and Surge, deaf-mute Sky, Trillion, and Mar – are called to an underground bunker to attend a peace conference. Each of the ninja clans has a magic power, and the Lost Ninja Clan control electricity. Fumitaka, a respected clan leader, believes that the disparate ninja clans are under threat by an external force. He proposes that they band together in order to increase their chances of survival. Though this is well received by the assembled clans, he is assassinated at the end of his speech. Three witnesses step forward to identify Cage, the leader of the Lost Ninja Clan, as the assassin. Confused and protesting his innocence, Cage leads his clan to safety as they fight through the hostile crowd. Cage uses most of his magical power reserves to temporarily knock most of the other ninja unconscious.

Maggie Conley has a miscarriage after an argument with her husband Chris turns physical. To save their marriage, they move to a large house in rural Virginia. There, they are met by real estate agent Rob Bradley, who explains that the house has been converted into a duplex. An quiet, elderly couple, the Andersons, rent the other half of the house. As constant storms have made public utilities prohibitively expensive, Bradley suggests that they use cell phones and a generator. After showing them the house, Bradley comes upon a locked door and offers to return in a week with the key. Later, Chris declines Maggie's offer to start the generator and insists on doing it himself. That night, Chris celebrates with mixed alcoholic drinks. During World War II, Wehrmacht Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg (Cruise) is severely wounded during an RAF air raid in Tunisia, losing his right hand, the ring and pinkie finger on his left hand, and his left eye, and is evacuated home to Nazi Germany. Meanwhile, Major General Henning von Tresckow (Branagh) attempts to assassinate Adolf Hitler by smuggling a bomb aboard the Führer's personal airplane. The bomb, however, is a dud and fails to detonate, and Tresckow flies to Berlin in order to safely retrieve it. After learning that the Gestapo has arrested Major General Hans Oster, he orders General Olbricht (Nighy) to find a replacement. After recruiting Stauffenberg into the German Resistance, Olbricht presents Stauffenberg at a meeting of the secret committee which has coordinated previous attempts on Hitler's life. The members include General Ludwig Beck (Stamp), Dr. Carl Goerdeler (McNally), and Erwin von Witzleben (Schofield). Stauffenberg is stunned to learn that no plans exist on the subject of what is to be done after Hitler's assassination.
