Dhaffer L'Abidine (also Dhafer El Abidine or Dhafer L'Abidine) (born 1972) is a Tunisian former professional soccer player and now actor, who has starred in Sky One's Dream Team, BBC's Spooks and ITV's The Bill and more recently starred in the controversial film The Mark of Cain as Omar Abdullah. He became famous in Tunisia after he played the role of "Dali" in a Tunisian series called "maktoub" .

Biography

Brièvement joueur de football professionnel, il entame des études en informatique, tout en devenant mannequin pour l'agence parisienne Metropolitan. Devenu assistant du réalisateur Moncef Dhouib, il entre à la Birmingham School of Speech and Drama.

Dès 2002, il se lance dans une carrière d'acteur au Royaume-Uni. Il joue dans des séries britanniques comme Dream Team diffusée sur Sky 1, Spooks sur la BBC et The Bill sur ITV. Au cinéma, il joue le rôle dans le téléfilm controversé The Mark of Cain . Engagé pour jouer un rôle dans le film Da Vinci Code, il est toutefois coupé au montage.

Grâce à son rôle de Mohamed Ali Néji (Dali), dans le feuilleton tunisien Maktoub, il devient une idole pour les femmes tunisiennes, une première pour une personnalité du pays. Diverses marques le choisissent alors pour promouvoir leurs produits, comme la limonade Boga.

Installé à Londres, il parle couramment l'arabe, le français et l'anglais et possède quelques connaissances en italien et espagnol.

The film begins with Private Shane Gulliver (Matthew McNulty) of the 1st Battalion, Northdale Rifles marching to a court martial. A man revealed to be Jacques Saunière is being pursued by a mysterious hooded character known as Silas (Paul Bettany) through the Grand Gallery in the Louvre in Paris. Silas demands the location of the Priory's clef de voûte or "keystone." Under threat of death, Saunière finally confesses the keystone is kept in the sacristy of Church of Saint-Sulpice, "beneath the Rose." Silas thanks him, and then shoots him in the stomach. Meanwhile, American symbologist Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks), who is in Paris as a guest lecturer on symbols and the sacred feminine, is contacted by the French police, and summoned to the Louvre to view the crime scene. He discovers the dying Saunière has created an intricate display using black light ink and his own body and blood. Captain Bezu Fache (Jean Reno) asks him for his interpretation of the puzzling scene.
