Dorothy Sebastian (April 26, 1903 – April 8, 1957) was an American film and stage actress.

Biography

Dorothy Sebastian débute au cinéma en 1925, participant à soixante-trois films américains (la moitié étant des muets) jusqu'en 1948. Un de ses films les plus connus est Le Figurant (1929), aux côtés de Buster Keaton. Au moment de son premier mariage en 1935, elle se retire quasiment, ne revenant au cinéma, à partir de 1937, que pour dix films (le plus souvent dans des petits rôles, parfois non crédités), dont trois westerns avec Roy Rogers en 1939. Après son second mariage en 1947, elle se retire définitivement.

Au théâtre, Dorothy Sebastian participe à une revue représentée à Broadway (New York) en 1924.

Elle meurt d'un cancer en 1957, peu avant ses 54 ans. Une étoile lui est dédiée sur le Walk of Fame d'Hollywood Boulevard.

The story begins as Hollywood press agent Bill Dunnigan (Fred MacMurray), who works for a fictional movie studio, arrives by train with the body of Polish-born actress Olga Treskovna (Alida Valli), in her hometown, a city referred to affectionately by its population as "Coaltown" because of its coal mining industry. In a voiceover narrated by Dunnigan, we learn that he was in love with Olga, although we never find out if she truly reciprocated his love. He has brought her back to "Coaltown" to honor her deathbed request - to be buried there. After encountering some hostility from the local funeral director who resents Olga's father because he was crooked, Dunnigan enlists the services of Father Paul (Frank Sinatra), the local priest, who pulls some strings to grant Olga's request.
