Frida Richard (1 November 1873 – 12 September 1946) was an Austrian actress.

Born Friederike Raithel in Vienna, Richard died in 1946 in Salzburg, Austria at age 72.

Biography

Cette fille d'artiste peintre va à une école de théâtre à Vienne. Elle a pour camarades Max Reinhardt (metteur en scène) et Fritz Richard qu'elle épouse en 1898. N'arrivant à être actrice, elle travaille comme enseignante d'anglais. Elle s'installe avec son mari à Berlin en 1905 et monte sur les planches en 1908.

Quand elle n'est pas à Berlin, elle joue à Vienne dans les lieux dirigés par Max Reinhardt. Elle vient au cinéma en 1910. Elle incarne le plus souvent une mère, une servante ou une conseillère.

En 1932, elle vit à Salzbourg, où Fritz Richard meurt l'année suivante.

Pedro, a shepherd, is sleeping in his Pyrenean mountain hut when his herd is attacked by a lone wolf. He awakens to defend his sheep, and strangles the wolf. In the Catalan lowlands (northeastern Spain), the construction of a canal is completed and diverts water from the farms and fields of the peasants to support the prized bulls of the landowner, Don Sebastian, marquis of Roccabruno. The request of the peasants for water is arrogantly rejected. He has, however, significant debts and needs money. The rich Amelia plans to marry him, but he offends her.

Albrecht Froben, though married to Octavia, falls in love with his neighbor, Äls Flodéen. She, however, is slowly dying from a debilitating disease. During an epidemic, Albrecht goes to bring her daughter to safety but he catches typhoid and is quarantined in hospital. Octavia, realising the love match, and hearing that Als is now bedridden and dying, dresses up as him and rides by her gates every day to keep her spirits up - her bed is next to the window. Albrecht returns. Äls has a dream in which she talks to her projection of Albrecht and concludes that she does not wish to take part in this union and accepts death. Albrecht is reconciled with his wife.
