Godfrey Quigley (4 May 1923 – 7 September 1994) was an Irish film, television and stage actor.

Quigley was born in Jerusalem, where his father was serving as an officer in the British Army. The family returned to Ireland in the 1930s and, following military service in the Second World War, Quigley trained as an actor at the Abbey School of Acting.

In 1949, Quigley made his first film appearance, in Saints and Sinners. He appeared in two Stanley Kubrick films: first as the prison chaplain in A Clockwork Orange (1971), and then as Captain Grogan in Barry Lyndon (1975). In British television, he played a has-been gangster in the serial Big Breadwinner Hog (1969). His theatre roles include the Irishman in Tom Murphy's The Gigli Concert, for which he won the Harvey's Best Actor Award in 1984.

In the 1950s, Quigley co-founded the Globe Theatre Company , whose members included his wife, Genevieve Lyons. The company was disestablished in 1960. During the same period, he produced the radio soap opera The Kennedys of Castleross.

Quigley died in Dublin of Alzheimer's disease, aged 71.

In 1939 New Orleans, a roguish German Shepherd named Charlie B. Barkin escapes from a dog pound with the help of his friend, a dachshund named Itchy Itchiford. They return to a casino riverboat on the bayou, which is formerly run by Charlie with his partner, a bulldog named Carface Caruthers. Not wanting to share the profits with Charlie, Carface persuades him to leave town with 50% of the casino's earnings. Charlie agrees, but is later intoxicated and murdered by Carface. He is sent to Heaven where a whippet angel named Annabelle (who was named in the sequel) tells him that a gold watch representing his life has stopped. He steals and winds it, sending Charlie back to Earth, but is told that if he dies again, he will go to Hell. After reuniting with Itchy, they discover that Carface is holding an orphan girl named Anne-Marie (presumably kidnapped from the orphanage by Carface), who has the ability to talk to animals and gain knowledge of a race's results beforehand, allowing Carface to rig the odds on the rat races and become rich. They rescue her, intending to use her abilities to get revenge on Carface, though Charlie tells her that they plan to give their winnings to the poor and help her find parents.

James, a young man starting with a large West End firm of estate agents and auctioneers, is ambitious to get to the top. In a cheap café he meets Charles, a drunken layabout who has everything James wants: effortless upper-class arrogance and impeccable tailoring. In return for a room to live in and loans for drink and betting, Charles agrees to tutor James in the life skills he needs to succeed. By bluff and sabotage James rises in his firm, catching the eye of the owner and of his only daughter Ann. Disaster threatens when Charles has a big win and decides to end the deal. Having conveniently sent his lower middle-class parents to Australia, his success will be crowned by a grand society wedding.
