Toshiyuki Sakata dit Harold Sakata (né le 1er juillet 1920 à Holualoa et mort le 29 juillet 1982 à Honolulu) est un haltérophile, un catcheur (lutteur professionnel) et un acteur américain d'origine japonaise.

Il est médaillé d'argent aux Jeux olympiques d'été de 1948 dans la catégorie des poids mi-lourds. Il devient catcheur l'année suivante.

Dans les années 1960, il entame une carrière d'acteur et apparaît dans plusieurs films et séries télévisés notamment dans Goldfinger où il incarne Oddjob.

Biography

Toshiyuki Sakata est l'aîné d'une fratrie de 10 enfants. Très jeune, il abandonne l'école pour travailler dans des plantations de canne à sucre et d'ananas.

Il connait une première carrière de sportif, obtenant une médaille d'argent en haltérophilie aux Jeux olympiques d'été de 1948 à Londres dans la catégorie des poids mi-lourds, 75 à 82,5 kg. Il se destine ensuite au catch, où il attire l'attention de Harry Saltzman et Albert R. Broccoli qui voient en lui un acteur possible pour le rôle de Oddjob, homme de main coréen de Goldfinger pouvant lancer son chapeau melon aux bords acérés. Il joua par la suite de nombreux personnages similaires.

Sonny Stein, who is played by Richard Jaeckel, learns while working as a marine salvager in the Philippine Islands, that he has a connection with Mako sharks, and is given a medallion by a Filipino shaman. Becoming alienated from society, Stein lives alone in a small stilt house offshore of Key West, Florida. He develops an ability to telepathically communicate with sharks. He then sets out to destroy anybody who harms sharks. People enter into his strange world to exploit his abilities and his shark "friends," including an unethical shark research scientist and a morbidly obese strip club owner (Buffy Dee) who wants to use a shark in his dancers' acts. Stein then uses these sharks to get revenge on anybody he considers a threat.

Professional wrestling promoter Frank Bass (Ed Asner) has to deal with the pressures of running a professional wrestling promotion, facing the pressures of constantly finding new wrestlers to pull in the crowds, keeping the wrestlers he has under contract under control and especially dealing with the fact that the top man, the champion of "the League" Mike Bullard (Verne Gagne is getting old and there is pressure to replace him with a younger wrestler. One such possible replacement is the latest challenger Billy Taylor (Billy Robinson). At one point Bass meets with a number of other wrestling promoters (played by real life wrestling promoters from the National Wrestling Alliance, including Vincent J. McMahon) to possibly create a "Super Bowl of Wrestling." Facing pressure Frank Bass decides to back Bullard as he faces the challenger Billy Taylor in the climax of the movie.
