Jack Colvin (October 13, 1934 – December 1, 2005) was an American character actor of theater, film and TV. He was most known for the role of the tabloid reporter Jack McGee in The Incredible Hulk television franchise (1977–1988), and as Dr. Ardmore in Child's Play.

Biography

Colvin was born in Lyndon, Kansas, twenty-seven miles south of Topeka. He began his stage career as a child performer. At the age of seventeen Colvin became a private student of Michael Chekhov. Although he appeared in hundreds of films and television shows, he always returned to the theatre. His stage roles include Marchbanks in Shaw's Candida, Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, Morgan Evans in The Corn is Green, Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest, Constantin in The Seagull, and Edmund in Long Day's Journey into Night. His film credits include Viva Max! (1969), Jeremiah Johnson (1972), Hickey & Boggs (1972), The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean (1972), Scorpio (1973), The Stone Killer (1973), The Terminal Man (1974), Rooster Cogburn (1975), Embryo (1976) and Child's Play (1988) among others. His partnership with Yvonne Wilder in one of the most successful comedy acts of the 1960s, Colvin and Wilder, led him to appear all over the U.S. on stage and on television, including The Dean Martin Show, The Ed Sullivan Show and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, culminating in their farewell appearance at Carnegie Hall in New York. Other television roles were on such programs as Switch, The Rockford Files, The Six Million Dollar Man, Kojak, and The Bionic Woman. While under contract to Universal Pictures for seven years, he appeared in over one hundred hours of television programming.

Colvin has won Los Angeles' Drama-Logue Awards in five separate categories, as actor, director, playwright, producer and production designer.

He taught at the central Experimental Film School of Rome, the University of Southern California, Cal State Northridge, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, the 1994 Michael Chekhov International Workshop in Sussex, the Centre for Performance Research at the University of Birmingham in 1999, and The Michael Chekhov Association's NYU June Intensive in 2004. His pupils included several stars whose subsequent performances that have won Academy Awards, Emmy Awards and Tony Awards. Colvin served as the Artistic Director of the Michael Chekhov Studio USA West, a position he founded, until his death from complications of a stroke.

Two years after the episode "A Minor Problem", Dr. David Banner has been gainfully employed at the Joshua-Lambert Research Institute (as David Bannion) where he and a team of scientists are putting the final touches on a Gamma Transponder, which he intends to use to cure him of his ability to turn into the Hulk. He has not changed into the Hulk for two years since he met a young widow, Maggie Shaw, with whom he is romantically involved. By chance, he is recognized by a former student of his, Donald Blake. Blake claims that, on an expedition in the Norwegian mountains, he found an enchanted hammer containing the soul of Thor, an immortal Norse warrior banished by Odin to Earth to earn worthiness into Valhalla. Thor is reluctantly compelled to serve Blake, who is unnerved by this. Banner does not believe him, so Blake summons Thor into Banner's laboratory. Thor damages equipment and angers Banner until he turns into the Hulk, who easily fights him off and leaves.

In 1907, when Amelia Earhart is nine years old growing up on a Kansas farm, she is precocious and builds a play aircraft with her sister "Pidge". Later, as America enters World War I in 1917, Amelia is a college student, working in a doctor's office. She decides to join the war effort and become a nurse. One night on the roof of her building, while on break with a coworker, she sees an aircraft which re-sparks her childhood interest in aviation. In 1921, young Earhart (Susan Clark) has her first training flight, with female flight instructor, Neta Snook (Susan Oliver). That same year she buys her first aircraft, a Kinner "Canary" with the blessing of her father(Charles Aidman) who has become a chronic alcoholic. In 1924, she and her mother (Jane Wyatt) drive from coast to coast, Los Angeles to Boston, in an open roadster, arguing some of the way. In Boston Earhart has an off-and-on relationship with a young man and later goes to work in a children's orphanage. What little money she saves subsidizes her flying.
