Jacob Berger (born 1963) is a Swiss film director and screenwriter. His 1990 film Angels was entered into the 40th Berlin International Film Festival.
After studying at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and a first short film titled A Name for Her Desire, Jacob Berger filmed his first full-length motion picture, Angels, in Barcelona, with Steve Weber, Belinda Becker, Féodor Atkine and Angela Molina. The film was presented for official competition at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1990.
In 1991 he produced a TV movie, Jour Blanc, in the Swiss Alps with Heinz Benent, Jean-Yves Berteloot et Fabienne Périneau. The film won the Prix de la Fiction at the Antibes Film Festival.

Jacob Berger is of English and Swiss descent, born in Lydney, England, in 1963. Jacob Berger is the son of the English author John Berger.After studying at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and a first short film titled A Name for Her Desire, Jacob Berger filmed his first full-length motion picture, Angels, in Barcelona, with Steve Weber, Belinda Becker, Féodor Atkine and Angela Molina. Sans ressources et voulant échapper aux griffes de son mari violent, Caroline se réfugie chez son père, sachant que son mari veut la tuer pour avoir fui et parlé à la police. Si la rancœur des années passées pousse initialement Humpty à rejeter sa fille, au fil des semaines, il adoucit son comportement et cherche désormais à recréer une relation harmonieuse avec elle, entre autres en lui finançant des cours du soir pour qu’elle puisse se relancer dans la vie, au lieu du boulot de serveuse qu’elle exerce temporairement aux côtés de Ginny.

Laila (Kalki Koechelin) is a wheelchair bound teenager with cerebral palsy. She is a student at Delhi University and an aspiring writer who writes lyrics and creates electronic sounds for an indie band at the university. Laila falls for the lead singer of the college band and is heartbroken when she is rejected. But she soon overcomes this phase, when she gets a scholarship for a semester at New York University and moves there with her mother (Revathy). Living in Manhattan, she meets an attractive young man named Jared (William Moseley) in her creative writing class, who is assigned to help her in typing. She also meets the fiery young activist Khanum (Sayani Gupta), a blind girl of a Pakistani and Bangladeshi descent, whom she later falls in love with. As she embarks on a journey of sexual discovery, she figures out she is bisexual, as she still feels attracted to men like Jared in spite of being with Khanum. Laila's mother believing the two are like best friends and oblivious to the fact that Khanum is her daughter's lover, invites her to Delhi to spend the winter break with the family. It is during that time that Laila finally finds the courage to tell her mother about her sexuality and her actual relationship with Khanum, which her mother initially disapproves. After a short while Laila's mother falls sick and she learns that her mother had fourth stage colon cancer which has fallen into relapse after previous treatments. Later Laila and her mother patch up and come to terms with each other. After her mother dies Laila plays a recorded speech at her mother's funeral telling how much she loved her and how she was the only one who ever understood her. The story ends with Laila going on a date, with herself, signifying that she now has taken control of her life and doesn't need anyone else to love and care for her.

Paul (Jean-Louis Trintignant) n'arrive pas à écrire le scénario de son prochain film. Les castings de comédiennes s'enchaînent et se ressemblent ; aucune ne parvient à le débloquer. Writer Leo Shepherd is informed that he has won the Nobel Prize. He lives in the Swiss countryside with his daughter, Virginie, who has given up her entire life for him, and he has an estranged son, Paul, who lives in the city. Leo makes his way to Sweden on a motorcycle, against the advice of his friends. Paul hears of his father having won the prize, and calls him to congratulate him, but his sister refuses to let Paul speak to their father. Still wishing to reconnect with his father, Paul sets off to find him. They first meet up at a petrol station, and later at the scene of an accident. Leo barely manages to survive. Taking advantage of the confusion, Paul kidnaps Leo, claiming that his father had not spent much time with him when he was growing up. Meanwhile, Leo's identification papers are found at the scene of the accident, and he is reported dead. Paul ties up Leo with yellow tape, and takes him on a road trip, giving Paul an opportunity to have his say and make Leo listen.
