Jimmy Hunt (December 4, 1939) is an American actor. He is perhaps best known for his role as David in Invaders from Mars (1953). In the 1986 remake of the same film he plays the police chief.
Engagé sous contrat, il est formé à la Little Red School House aux côtés d'autres jeunes acteurs tels que Roddy McDowall et Elizabeth Taylor.

Ils auront ensuite deux fils, Randy et Ron.
Après 1954, il n'a fait qu'une apparition dans le remake L'invasion vient de Mars (Invaders from Mars, 1986) dans lequel son personnage, retrouvant la colline où a atterri la soucoupe volante, affirme « ne pas y avoir mis les pieds depuis 40 ans » (plus précisément, 33 ans séparent le film original de son remake).

Issu d'une famille de la classe moyenne sans lien avec le milieu du cinéma, sa carrière débute en 1947 lorsqu'il est engagé pour jouer le rôle d'Alec Brooke jeune dans L'Île enchantée (High Barbaree), en raison de sa ressemblance avec l'acteur Van Johnson. On the night of a meteor shower, young David Gardner sees an alien spacecraft land in a sand quarry behind his house. This is the beginning of an alien invasion that sees David's parents (George and Ellen Gardner), his teachers and the townspeople slowly assimilated by the alien life forms, returning with less emotions. The only one who believes David is the school nurse, Linda Magnuson. Together, David and Linda enlist the aid of the U.S. Marines to help save the world. The film ends when David realizes that everything that has happened was a dream. He tells his parents what happened, and wonders if his dream will become a nightmare, especially when the alien spacecraft begins to land, and David witnesses something that terrifies him so much that he begins screaming, but remains unseen to the audience.

Late one night, young David MacLean (Jimmy Hunt) is awakened by a loud thunderstorm. From his bedroom window, he sees a large flying saucer descend and disappear into the sandpit area behind his home. After rushing to tell his parents, his scientist father (Leif Erickson) goes to investigate David's claim. When his father returns much later in the morning, David notices an unusual red puncture along the hairline on the back of his father's neck; his father is now behaving in a cold and hostile manner. David soon begins to realize something is very wrong: one-by-one he notices certain townsfolk are acting in exactly the same way. Through his telescope, David sees child neighbor Kathy Wilson walking in the sandpit, when she suddenly disappears underground.
