Jon Kenny (born 1957, Hospital, County Limerick, Ireland) lives in Lough Gur and is one half of the famous Irish comic duo d'Unbelievables with Pat Shortt. They were a very successful duo until 2000, releasing One Hell of a Video, D'Unbelievables, D'Video, D'Telly, D'Mother and D'collection but the group stopped touring after Kenny was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. He has since made a successful recovery and still performs shows across Ireland. Kenny is best known outside Ireland for appearing in the Channel 4 sitcom Father Ted (as Michael the cinema owner in "The Passion of St Tibulus" and as presenter Fred Rickwood in "Song For Europe"). He also played the role of Monsieur Thénardier in the 1998 film version of Les Misérables.

Kenny is an accomplished singer and supporter of Munster Rugby.
Jon has just completed filming a lead role in an independent Europe feature film called Insatiable, directed by Jessie Kirby. [1] On his new DVD, Back to Front, Jon says he plays the nastiest man in Ireland in the film which is his first serious role. Jon Kenny has many relatives from The Irish Midlands and the West of Ireland. His mother's maiden name is Dirraine and her grandparents came from Inis Mór in the Aran Islands. His daughters name is Leah.

Kenny returned to solo comedy and has performed throughout Ireland with his one man show. In the spring of 2007, Kenny realised his first solo stand-up DVD 'Back to Front'. The DVD was filmed in Ballybunion, Co. Kerry and Kenny is joined by the fiddler Ivor Ottley and double bassist Damien Evans.

Kenny performed as a celebrity Gaelic football Manager in the reality series Celebrity Bainisteoir. He was put up against other Irish celebrities such as Nell McCafferty, Ivan Yate and Marty Whelan. Kenny managed Limerick side Galtee Gaels which were knocked out in episode 3 by McCafferty's St. Mary's Faughanvale.

Kenny created a brand new theatre show 'Mag Mell' with visual Artist Des Dillon and Musician/Composers Benny McCarthy & Conal Ó'Gráda in 2012-13.

In October of 1981, on an island off the coast of Ireland lives Conor, a lighthouse keeper, his son Ben, his wife Bronagh, who is expecting their second child, and their sheepdog Cú. Bronagh leaves unexpectedly late one night, leaving behind her newborn daughter Saoirse. Six years later, Conor is a broken man, Saoirse has yet to utter a single word, and Ben has grown resentful of his sister, associating her with his mother’s disappearance. The family are then visited by Granny for Saoirse's birthday. That night, Ben scares Saoirse with a story of Mac Lir the giant and his mother Macha the Owl Witch, who stole his feelings and turned him to stone. Later that night, Saoirse plays a seashell horn given to Ben by their mother, and it leads her to a white sealskin coat hidden in Conor’s closet. She puts the coat on and is coaxed into the ocean by a group of seals. It is then revealed that she is a beautiful white Selkie. After swimming with the seals, she is found washed up onshore by Granny, who insists upon taking the children back home to the city for their own safety. Conor reluctantly agrees despite Ben's protests, especially that Cú cannot go with them, and throws the chest containing Saoirse's coat and its key into the sea.

Angela's Ashes tells the story of Frank McCourt and his childhood after his family are forced to move from America back to Ireland because of financial difficulties and family problems derived from his father's alcoholism. The film chronicles young McCourt's life in Limerick, Ireland, during his childhood in the 1930s and 1940s, the difficulties that ensued, and finally Frank's way of earning enough money to return to the land of his dreams: America. Michael Legge was praised for his portrayal of the adolescent Frank. In particular, he was said to excel in his role as an innocent teenager growing up with typical coming of age rites involving sexuality, maturity and peer pressure in a Catholic Irish setting.

Set in "Barrytown", a fictitious working-class quarter of Dublin. Brendan "Bimbo" Reeves gets laid off from his job as a baker. With his redundancy cheque, he buys a van and sells fish and chips with his best mate, Larry. Due, in part, to Ireland's surprising success at the 1990 FIFA World Cup, their business starts off well. But the relationship between the two friends soon becomes strained as Bimbo and his wife, Maggie behave more and more like typical bosses. Larry believes that Maggie is the cause of the strained friendship, as he thinks she is pushing Bimbo away from him. The van is closed down because of poor hygiene by health inspector, Des O'Callaghan. Bimbo thinks that Larry told the Health Board about the van, leading to a fight between the two. Larry quits the job, despite Bimbo's best efforts to get him back. Bimbo then drives the van into the sea, so as to win his friendship with Larry back.
