Jonathan Gregory Brandis (April 13, 1976 – November 12, 2003) was an American actor, director, and screenwriter.

Beginning his career as a child model, Brandis moved on to acting in commercials and subsequently won television and film roles. At the age of 17, he landed the role of Lucas Wolenczak, a teen prodigy on the NBC series seaQuest DSV. The character was popular among teenage female viewers, and Brandis regularly appeared in teen magazines.

In November 2003, Brandis died from hanging himself at the age of 27.

Biography

Sa carrière a commencé, à partir de 1981, dans quatre-vingts spots publicitaires environ, ce qui lui avait permis d'avoir quelques rôles dans les séries La Loi de Los Angeles, La Fête à la maison, Madame est servie, Arabesque, Alien Nation, Flash, Les Années coup de cœur.

Il avait joué notamment dans Ça (l'adaptation du roman de Stephen King), L'Histoire sans fin II de George T. Miller où il a côtoyé John Wesley Shipp (Mitch Leery de Dawson et l'interprète de Flash), Ladybugs et dans la série SeaQuest, police des mers produit par Steven Spielberg, sans oublier Sidekicks avec Chuck Norris.

En 1994, il part en République tchèque où il joue le rôle du roi Venceslas Ier de Bohême.

En 2000, il est auditionné pour le rôle d'Anakin Skywalker dans Star Wars : épisode II - L'Attaque des clones de George Lucas.

Son dernier film devait être Mission évasion (Hart's War) aux côtés de Bruce Willis et Colin Farrell, avec lequel Jonathan Brandis espérait faire un grand retour mais les scènes où il apparaissait ont été coupées. Son dernier film a été Puerto Vallarta Squeeze, sorti en 2004.

During World War II, U.S. Army intelligence officer First Lieutenant Thomas Hart (Farrell) is captured by German forces. While interrogating Hart, the Germans coerce him to divulge intelligence by taking away his boots, causing his feet to become frostbitten and badly injured, and leaving him, naked, in a very cold cell. He is then transferred by train to Stalag VI-A prisoner of war camp at Hemer, Germany. While en route, a P-51 Mustang attacks (the letters POW were painted on the top of the train, but got covered by thick snow). To save themselves, the POWs leave the train and spell P-O-W with their bodies and prevent further strafing.

Timothy "Dildo/Dunph" Dunphy (Shawn Hatosy), is in the Class of 1974 in his high school senior year living in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, comes from a troubled single parent working-class family, and is friends with those that have aspirations which do not exceed smoking marijuana at the water tower that has a view of the town. His father, Pat (Alec Baldwin), suffers from his wife committing suicide and appears naïve when the boys come back to the Dunphy's house to get a bong. A regularly held poker game is in progress. Pat insists that the boys be respectful and come in to say hello. The boys' intention is undetected by Pat that they are using drugs when Dunph's wheelchair-using younger brother, Jackie (Tommy Bone), attempts to hand off the bong wrapped in Dunph's coat. It falls to the floor. Jackie suggests that it is a musical horn which Pat's friend, Joey (George Wendt), asks Dunph to demonstrate, only able to make sounds about which Pat is dismissive. Pat's friends chuckle at Pat's reaction. Off the boys go on their adventures.
