Jonathan Jensen "Jonah" Nolan (born 1976) is a British-American film writer, television producer, television writer, and director, as well as an author.
Jonathan Nolan est né à Londres, d'un père anglais et d'une mère américaine. Il possède les nationalités britannique et américaine. Il grandit cependant dans la région de Chicago. Nolan sort diplômé de la Loyola Academy de Wilmette dans l'Illinois en 1994 puis de Georgetown University à Washington en 1999.
Carrière
En 1999, il commence sa carrière dans le film de son frère aîné Christopher Nolan, Following, le suiveur, où il officie comme machiniste.
En 2000, il coécrit avec son frère le thriller Memento, qui marque par son originalité. Le film obtient de nombreux prix notamment l'Independent Spirit Award du meilleur scénario, le prix Edgar-Allan-Poe du meilleur scénario…
En 2006, il adapte avec son frère le roman Le Prestige de Christopher Priest. Le film du même nom met en scène Hugh Jackman et Christian Bale. Les frères Nolan retrouvent ce dernier en 2008 pour The Dark Knight, suite de Batman Begins. Ils collaborent ici avec David S. Goyer, déjà coscénariste avec Christopher Nolan de Batman Begins.
En juillet 2008, le réalisateur McG confirme à une conférence de presse que Jonathan a collaboré au script de son film Terminator Renaissance. Nolan n'est cependant pas crédité au générique.
En février 2010, il travaille sur le scénario du 3e Batman, The Dark Knight Rises, avec son frère et David S. Goyer et également à celui du film suivant de son frère, Interstellar.
En septembre 2011, la série télévisée Person of Interest qu'il a créée est lancée. Elle est notamment produite par J. J. Abrams.
En 2016, sa femme Lisa Joy et lui sont les créateurs, producteurs et réalisateurs de la série télévisée Westworld.

The planet Krypton faces imminent destruction due to its unstable core; the result of depleting Krypton's natural resources. The ruling council is deposed by the planet's military commander, General Zod, and his followers during a coup d'état. Knowing that artificial population control and isolationism have ruined their civilization, scientist Jor-El and his wife Lara launch their newborn son, Kal-El, the first naturally born Kryptonian child in centuries, on a spacecraft to Earth after infusing his cells with a genetic codex of the entire Kryptonian race. Eight years after Harvey Dent's (Aaron Eckhart) death, the Dent Act grants the Gotham City Police Department powers which nearly eradicate organized crime. Stryver double-crosses Selina, but she uses the congressman's stolen phone to alert the police to their location. Gordon and the police arrive to find the congressman, and then pursue Stryver's men into the sewers while Selina flees. A masked militant named Bane (Tom Hardy) captures Gordon. Gordon escapes and is found by John Blake (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a once-orphaned patrol officer who has deduced Batman's true identity from their similar backgrounds. Gordon promotes Blake to detective, with Blake reporting directly to him.

A struggling, unemployed young writer (credited as "The Young Man") takes to following strangers around the streets of London, ostensibly to find inspiration for his first novel. Initially, he sets strict rules for himself regarding whom he should follow and for how long, but he soon discards them as he focuses on a well-groomed, handsome man in a dark suit. The man in the suit, having noticed he is being followed, quickly confronts the Young Man and introduces himself as "Cobb". Cobb reveals that he is a serial burglar and invites the Young Man (who tells Cobb his name is "Bill") to accompany him on various burglaries. The material gains from these crimes seem to be of secondary importance to Cobb. He takes pleasure in rifling through the personal items in his targets' flats and drinking their wine. He explains that his true passion is using the shock of robbery and violation of property to make his victims re-examine their lives. It is revealed that the bug resembles a miniature version of himself. He squashes the bug with his shoe. However, every movement the "doodlebug" makes is later matched by the man himself, and he is later squashed by a larger version of himself.
