Jordi Alejandro Vilasuso (/vɪləˈsuːsoʊ/; born June 15, 1981 in Miami, Florida) is a Cuban-American actor best known for originating the role of "Tony Santos" on the CBS soap opera, Guiding Light from August 2000 until August 2003.
Vilasuso was raised by his parents, Dr. Frank Vilasuso and Ana Vilasuso, in Coral Gables, Florida. He also has an older brother, Javier, and a younger sister, Marianne. Vilasuso attended Ransom Everglades High School and later Glendale Community College in California.
In 2010, Vilasuso began dating actress Kaitlin Riley. On May 14, 2012, Vilasuso and Riley announced their engagement. On May 21, 2012, Riley's sister, Bailee Madison, announced on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno that Riley is pregnant with the couple's first child due in December.
Vilasuso and Riley were married on August 25, 2012 in Islamorada, Florida. The couple's first daughter, Riley Grace Vilasuso, was born on November 26, 2012.
In 2003 Vilasuso won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Tony Santos. He was also nominated in the same category in 2002.
Vilasuso has appeared in the movies The Last Home Run, The Lost City, Heights and La Linea. Fifty people suddenly wake up in a darkened room, arranged in two concentric circles around a strange device. Noises sound when they attempt to move or touch the others. When someone ignores the warning and leaves formation, a beam from the device kills him. As the others panic, a man attempts to calm them. In mid-sentence, he is killed by the device. During the Battle of Saipan, on 7 July 1944, Captain Sakae Ōba partakes in a final banzai charge against the United States Marines Corps on the island of Saipan. It is the largest banzai charge of the Pacific War, but fails, resulting in over 4,000 Japanese deaths after 15 hours of close combat. American forces declare the island secure on 9 July, while Ōba and a handful of survivors retreat into the jungle and begin a guerrilla-style war using Mount Tapochau as a base due to its natural defensive position and prominent heights overlooking every possible approach. With only 46 soldiers and 200 civilians at his disposal Ōba – nicknamed "the Fox" by the Americans due to his cunning strategy – holds out for 512 days before surrendering on 1 December 1945, having lasted three months after Japan's capitulation following the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Ōba marches down from the mountain with his remaining survivors singing a song of departure to fallen comrades and presents his sword to the American commander in a formal and dignified manner, the last organized resistance of Japanese forces of the Second World War.
