Lena Dunham (/ˈlinə ˈdʌnəm/ LEE-nə DUN-um; born May 13, 1986) is an American actress, author, screenwriter, producer, and director. She wrote and directed the independent film Tiny Furniture (2010), and is the creator, writer and star of the HBO series Girls. She has received eight nominations for Emmy Awards as a writer, director, actress and producer and won two Golden Globe Awards for Girls. In 2013 Dunham became the first woman to win a Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directing – Comedy Series.

Biography

In 2012, Dunham began dating Jack Antonoff, lead guitarist of the band Fun. and the founder of Bleachers. She previously stated that she would not get married until same-sex marriage was legalized; after same-sex marriage was indeed legalized; she and Antonoff stated that the possibility of their getting married is a "definite maybe".

Dunham was diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder as a child, and continues to take a low dose of an antidepressant to relieve her anxiety.

In a January 2015 interview, at the Golden Globes Awards ceremony, Dunham said that she had removed the Twitter social media app from her handset, due to personal attacks; however, she added that she continues to use the platform "occasionally."

In March 2015, Dunham wrote an essay for The New Yorker entitled "Dog or Jewish Boyfriend? A Quiz" which compared her Jewish boyfriend to a dog. The Anti-Defamation League released a statement condemning the piece, saying it was "tasteless" and "plays with offensive stereotypes" about Jews.

Samantha balks but finally agrees, if he will pay her $400, a significant increase in her pay. Megan immediately leaves, citing Ulman's lies and peculiar behavior, but she reluctantly promises to pick up Samantha later. Samantha stays, after accepting the money. On the way home, Megan stops in her car to smoke a cigarette. When her car lighter will not work, a stranger (A.J. Bowen) suddenly appears out of nowhere, startling her, and lights her cigarette for her. When Megan reveals that she is not the babysitter hired by the Ulmans, she is abruptly shot and murdered by the stranger.
