Leonid Kinskey (18 April 1903 – 8 September 1998) was a Russian-born film and television actor who enjoyed a long career. Kinskey is best known for his role as Sascha in the film Casablanca (1942).

Biography

Ayant fui la Révolution russe de 1917, Leonid Kinskey s'installe aux États-Unis en 1921, où il tourne son premier film en 1932. Il joue au cinéma jusqu'en 1957, un de ses rôles les plus connus étant celui de Sascha dans Casablanca (1942).

Pour la télévision, il apparaît dans des séries (Perry Mason, Des agents très spéciaux, Batman, Daktari, etc), entre 1954 et 1971. Kinskey joue également dans l'épisode pilote de Papa Schultz, mais rejette un rôle régulier dans la série, estimant que le principe est trop absurde et a peu de chance de succès.

Frankie Machine (Frank Sinatra) is released from prison with a set of drums and a new outlook on life, and returns to his run down neighborhood on the North Side of Chicago. During the 1860s in Wiesbaden, Pauline Ostrovsky, a reformed addict, receives a manuscript from the dying writer Fedya (diminutive of Fyodor), in which he looks back at their first meeting: While traveling from Paris to Moscow, Fedya meets Pauline and secretly feels attracted to her. Noticing she is disembarking at Wiesbaden, Fedya decides to leave the train as well and follows her to a casino. There, he finds out Pauline is, like her father General Ostrovsky, a gambling addict. Upon seeing how undisturbed the Ostrovskys are to find out the General's wealthy mother is dying, he becomes interested in the effects of gambling. Wedge Donovan (John Wayne) is a tough construction boss, building airstrips in the Pacific for the U.S. Navy during World War II. He clashes with his liaison officer, Lieutenant Commander Robert Yarrow (Dennis O'Keefe), over the fact that his men are not allowed to arm themselves against the Japanese. When the enemy lands in force on the island, he finally takes matters into his own hands, leading his men into the fray.
