Durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, à Casablanca en 1942, un espion canadien du SOE, Max Vatan (Brad Pitt), et une espionne française, Marianne Beauséjour (Marion Cotillard), doivent former un couple pour les besoins d'une mission visant à tuer l'ambassadeur allemand. Après quelques jours, les faux sentiments deviennent réels. Une fois la mission accomplie, Max propose alors à Marianne de le suivre à Londres. Ils se marient et Marianne donne naissance à une petite fille quelques mois plus tard. Leur petite vie tranquille est remise en question lorsqu'un des supérieurs de Max l'informe des soupçons qui portent sur sa femme. Marianne est accusée d'être un agent dormant travaillant pour les nazis. Convaincu que les services de renseignement se trompent, Max va tout faire pour tenter de la disculper.

Alors qu'il effectue un reportage sur une éruption volcanique, la vie du journaliste Russell Woods est chavirée lorsque sa femme meurt dans la tragédie. Affligé, il part en Italie afin de découvrir le petit village natal de sa femme. À cet endroit, il est suivi par une étrange petite fille, Angela, dont les villageois présument qu'elle est frappée d'une malédiction diabolique. Malgré les avertissements, Russell est intrigué par la fillette et établit un contact. When an anonymous benefactor invites a party of celebrities and business magnates to a New Year's celebration aboard the Orient Express, it is the guests' greed which brings them all together. Debris from a destroyed Russian space station (where experiments were taking place on huge mutant spiders) fell toward Earth, crashing inside the tunnel of a New York City subway station. The film cuts to the subway station, where Jason, a New York Transit subway supervisor, works. When the debris from the space station crashes into the tunnel, an alarm goes off and the authorities, afraid of a possible disease outbreak, begin evacuating passengers from the station. Jason's coworker Jimmy descends into the subway tunnel to investigate the area, telling Jason that he believes the debris is the remains of the Russian spacecraft. Jimmy feels something bit his leg, and suddenly starts to stumble, falling on the third rail, electrocuting himself. Jason's ex-wife Rachel, who is a coroner with the New York City Dept of Health, discovers a cluster of large, strange-looking "insect eggs" inside Jimmy's body. She saves the eggs in a canister for further study.

Jenna (Scout Taylor-Compton) gets into a car accident with her boyfriend, Jamie, who eventually dies. Three years later, while coping with her past tragedy, Jenna is invited to stay for the weekend in a lakeside cabin by her best friend Renee (Christina Ulloa). They are joined by Renee’s irresponsible boyfriend, Michael (Michael Copon), and his friend, Ian (Travis Van Winkle), and sail off at Ian's uncle, Wade's (Tyler Mane) lakeside cabin. They are greeted by Wade along with his friendly dog, named Beau. They settle in the cabin and plan on attending a party, since there is a festival happening around the nearby town at night. Jenna goes to her room and refuses to take her pills so she could have fun with her friends. While they all eat dinner, Wade mentions how he may not be around while they are away since he has work to do. The group gets fascinated when they stumble inside a sauna Wade built. While they enjoy spending time inside, the temperature gets warmer and they decide to swim at the lake. Trembling in cold, they all head back inside the sauna. Meanwhile, Michael gets high from the marijuana Wade had given to him, where Renee rebuffs his sexual advances. This upsets Michael and gets out of the sauna. As the temperature continues to rise, Renee ultimately decides to leave but the door is blocked from the outside. The trio think it is just one of Michael's pranks since they all know he's mad at Renee, which they don't find amusing. They soon realize that they are trapped in the sauna and attempts to break a small window on the door, injuring Ian's hand. They all take turns gasping for air as the temperature raises even higher with another unsuccessful attempt to unblock the door from the outside. The group then finds a hidden controller which they all can't risk destroying, since Ian believes it would just alter the temperature.
