Michael S. Vartan (born November 27, 1968) is a French-American actor, known for his role as Michael Vaughn on the American television action drama Alias, and his role on the TNT medical drama Hawthorne.
In March 2010, Vartan announced his engagement to Lauren Skaar, whom he met in a Whole Foods Market parking lot in Los Angeles in 2009. The couple married on April 2, 2011 at the Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach, California. Skaar filed for divorce in July 2014, citing irreconcilable differences.
Vartan has a dog named Millie, with whom he appeared in a PETA video about good canine care and to whom he wrote a "love letter" for an anthology. He is a keen supporter of Australian rules football, having watched the game on numerous visits to Australia, in particular Melbourne. He is good friends with Brendan Fevola and supports Carlton. After the completion of the film Rogue, Vartan got a Southern Cross tattoo on his right arm to show his love for Australia.

Vartan began dating his Alias co-star Jennifer Garner in mid-2003. After several months of rumors, their break-up was confirmed in August 2004.In March 2010, Vartan announced his engagement to Lauren Skaar, whom he met in a Whole Foods Market parking lot in Los Angeles in 2009. In 1992, Bogota, Colombia, Fabio Restrepo (Jesse Borrego) has key information about drug lord Don Luis Sandoval (Beto Benites). However, Don Luis fears that Fabio will be putting a hit on them, so he sends his henchman Marco (Jordi Mollà) to kill him. Fabio gives his nine-year-old daughter Cataleya (Amandla Stenberg) the information Don Luis wants and tells her it's her "passport"; he also gives her the address of her Uncle Emilio (Cliff Curtis), a criminal in Chicago, who will take care of her if she finds herself alone. The last thing he gives her is something that will keep her safe: his mom's necklace, the cataleya orchid. Fabio tells her to sit at the kitchen table and not move no matter what. After saying their goodbyes, Fabio and his wife Alicia (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) leave to battle Marco and his men but both of them are gunned down as Cataleya listens from the kitchen. Marco tries to manipulate her into giving the information. When he asks what she wants, she stabs him in the hand with a kitchen knife, saying "To kill Don Luis", and escapes. She safely makes it to the U.S. Embassy and gives the Embassy the information in exchange for a passport and passage to the United States. She escapes to the airport, where she makes it to the US and takes a bus to Chicago. Once she finds Emilio, Cataleya asks him to train her as an assassin.

Jolene (Jessica Chastain) is a 15-year-old foster child recently orphaned. At 15, she marries Mickey, a "green", nerdy, 20-year-old, partially to break free of the foster care. The teen couple live with Mickey's Uncle Phil (Dermot Mulroney) and Aunt Kay (Theresa Russell). Jolene asks Mickey about his mother, but Mickey rebuffs her and starts crying. To make him feel better, she then takes off the nightgown and seduces him, but Mickey's inexperience leads to uncomfortable and joyless sex. The next morning, Mickey and Uncle Phil wish Jolene a "Happy Birthday" with Kay asking Jolene to clean the floor. Uncle Phil walks in as Jolene is cleaning the floors, is aroused and they have sex. Starting an affair, they have passionate sex, with Phil promising to build a house for "just the two of them", but asks Jolene to keep the affair clandestine. Eventually, Kay walks in on them having sex and violently throws Jolene out of the house, Mickey, Phil and Kay fight, then Mickey walks out and commits suicide by jumping off a bridge. Aunt Kay has Jolene placed in a juvenile mental institution, meeting Cindy, a psychiatric nurse. Jolene asks for paper and colored pencils to draw. Her request is denied, but she is allowed crayons. Uncle Phil, visibly gray-haired, haggard and old-looking, is later sentenced to 18 months in prison. Cindy, a lesbian, takes a liking to Jolene and this culminates in another clandestine relationship. Cindy breaks Jolene out of the mental hospital and hides her, but Jolene soon breaks free and boards a bus west out of South Carolina forever. Jolene resorts to hitchhiking further west, supporting herself by prostitution.

The story follows Tim, Chris and Rand who are campus roommates.
