Paul Edward Winfield (May 22, 1939 – March 7, 2004) was an American television, film and stage actor. He was known for his portrayal of a Louisiana sharecropper who struggles to support his family during the Great Depression in the landmark film Sounder, which earned him an Academy Award nomination. He portrayed Martin Luther King, Jr. in the 1978 television miniseries King, for which he was nominated for an Emmy Award. Winfield was also known to science fiction fans for his roles in The Terminator, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The story begins with Dwayne (Chi Muoi Lo), Dolores (Mary Alice), and Harold (Paul Winfield) playing a game of cards with Dolores trying to convince Dwayne to take a cat Harold found on the way home. Dwayne thinks there is clearly something wrong with the cat and refuses to take it. One afternoon, Dwayne in his living room with his girlfriend Nina (Sanaa Lathan). Dwayne excuses himself claiming he forgot something. We see a frantic Dwayne rushing to his bedroom. He grabs a small red box (obviously an engagement ring) a rose and some champagne. When he returns to the living room however he finds his roommate, Michael (Tyler Christopher), and his new transgender girlfriend (Wing Chen) waiting there. He quickly puts the ring away as he and Nina head to Dwayne’s parents’ house for a barbecue.

Two friends, Danny (John White), and Phil (Dan Warry-Smith) live in a Mississippi town near a swamp. There is a local legend of a swamp-dwelling creature called "Gator Face". They construct a Gator Face costume by modifying a wetsuit. After scaring most of the townsfolk, the pranks make national news, drawing the attention of the National Guard. Danny soon discovers that Gator Face is real and friendly. After Danny, along with his friends Phil and Angel (Charlotte Sullivan), saves Gator Face from a trap, they realize that Gator Face is protecting the swamps. Danny learns that the National Guard will kill Gator Face if he is caught so the three friends resolve to save the monster. Danny's older brother Chip (Gordon Michael Woolvett) shoots at Danny (while Danny is dressed as Gator Face) with a flare gun and misses when Danny flees into a nearby building. The townsfolk think Danny is the real Gator Face and burns the building with Danny in it, the real Gator Face jumps in and saves Danny but is himself shot. Yet the swamp won't let its defender die, so the fog heals Gator Face and the day is saved.

The movie opens to a narration detailing the poor economic state of a gang-ridden Gary. The narrator explains to the audience of how the city came into such a state. After the opening narrative, the scene switches to the base of operations for the Rebels, a local street gang, and a one-on-one basketball game between a Rebel gang member and a local boy named Kenny Thompson. Kenny humiliates the Rebel by winning and taking the gambled winnings for his own. After he leaves, Spyro, the current co-leader of the Rebels (opposite Damien) is under the impression that Kenny's skills are something more than "something he picked up." He instructs his lieutenant, Kayo, to exact retribution on Kenny for being hustled.

In the year 3040, New York medical student Driscoll Rampart (Neal McDonough) is completing his internship on Rusta, a rural planet which due to it being tidally locked to its primary, is divided into contrasting halves of day and night with the halves separated by a wall. The series begins with Scarlett attending the funeral of Melanie Wilkes, her ex-sister-in-law and rival for Ashley Wilkes' affection, at which her estranged husband, Rhett Butler, is not present. She, heartbroken that he left her, sets out for Tara and is saddened when she learns that Mammy, her mainstay since birth, is dying. When she arrives there, she sends a telegram to notify Rhett about Mammy under the name of Will Benteen (her sister, Suellen's, husband), because she knows that he won't come if he suspects she is there. Before Mammy passes away, she makes him swear to look after "her lamb", Miss Scarlett. He agrees, although he has no intention of honoring the request. After she dies, he and Scarlett have another snipe-filled encounter, which culminates in him leaving and her returning to the Atlanta house, determined to win him back.

Dennis Mitchell is a five-year-old boy who lives with his parents Henry and Alice, and is the bane of next door neighbour, George Wilson's existence. George, falls ill after consuming the incorrect dosage of prescription drugs. Denis attempts to fling aspirin into George’s mouth with a sling shot. This attempt fails and George gags, and spits out the pills. When they arrive, Dennis, Joey, and Margaret venture into the woods to an abandoned tree house and intend to fix it up. Later, while getting paint from a high shelf in the garage, Dennis tries to grab his slingshot, which was taken away from him, accidentally spills paint on the ground. He fervently attempts to vacuum it up. Next Denis is sent to another set of babysitters; Polly and Mickey. Devilishly Denis fools them into scorning George, framing them to believe that he was behind the door. Denis therefore luckily escapes the consequences of spilling the paint. Meanwhile, a burglar named Switchblade Sam arrives in town and begins robbing houses, as well as striking fear into the children that he meets.
