Richard Eastham, born as Dickinson Swift Eastham (June 22, 1916 – July 10, 2005), was an American actor of stage, film, and television and a concert singer known for his deep baritone voice.

Biography

Eastham was married to his wife, Betty Jean, from 1942 until her death in 2002. They had no children. Eastham died at age of eighty-nine from complications due to Alzheimer's disease at an assisted living facility in Pacific Palisades, California. His body was sent to Bel-Nor, Missouri for cremation at Oak Grove Cemetery. His urn was put into the same columbarium as his father's urn.

It is just before dawn in Seattle. A man dons dark glasses and gloves and loads a 9mm silenced automatic handgun. He drives into town, where he shoots a policeman (Officer Philip Forsell; in the film the character is identified only as Hyatt) on his beat, then drives to a police impound yard and shoots the officer on duty (dialogue identifies him as Wally Johnson). At a luncheonette, as he washes his hands, he momentarily flashes a police badge belonging to Detective Sgt. Stan Boyle (William Bryant). When a car pulls up, Boyle goes outside and gives the driver a satchel containing the 9mm and proceeds to his own car – but is shot in the back by the unseen driver.

Told as a flashback to the early 21st century with a wraparound sequence narrated by the orangutan Lawgiver (John Huston) in "North America - 2670 A.D.", this sequel follows the ape leader, Caesar (Roddy McDowall), years after a global nuclear war has destroyed civilization. In this post-nuclear society, Caesar tries to cultivate peace between the apes and the surviving humans. A gorilla general named Aldo (Claude Akins), however, opposes this and plots Caesar's downfall. Caesar is married to Lisa (Natalie Trundy), the female ape of the previous film, and they have a son, named Cornelius (Bobby Porter) in honor of Caesar's father.

Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn play hooky from school and have a plan to revive a dead cat with the spirit of a man named Hoss Williams who is on his death bed. Sawyer and Finn talk with Muff Potter, the town drunk, but are interrupted when Injun Joe says that Doc Robinson wants to see them. Muff and Joe meet Robinson and he informs them that they have a job to dig the grave of Williams. Joe is angry that Robinson didn't fix his leg correctly. Meanwhile, Tom continues to skip school and comes up with fantastic stories about why he's not home for dinner, where he tricks the children of the town to do his punishment chores for him.

With diplomatic tensions building and the United States facing a possible military confrontation with China, Air Force One mysteriously crashes in the desert while heading to California, killing U.S. President Jeremy Haines (Tod Andrews). While the crash is being investigated, Vice-President Kermit Madigan (Buddy Ebsen) steps up as Acting President. Unfortunately, Haines had left him uninformed of current foreign policies. Madigan must now rely on the former President's aides to fill him in on information he lacks, but the aides have their own agendas. National Security Adviser George Oldenburg (Rip Torn) claims that Haines was preparing to go to war if the Chinese did not back down, while career diplomat Secretary of State Freeman Sharkey (Raymond Massey) asserts that Haines was pursuing a peaceful solution to the problem with China. Madigan's wife Hester (Mercedes McCambridge) sees this as an opportunity to advance his career, but the Washington political community doubts his competence. In dealing with growing tensions and conflicting advice, Madigan struggles to avoid a nuclear war with the Chinese. Meanwhile, it develops that President Haines was not aboard the crashed plane after all.

Overhearing stern Uncle Daniel describe him as a "millstone", hurt and insulted, Toby Tyler runs away from his foster home to join the circus. When he discovers, with the help of Mr. Stubbs, that Harry lied to him about Aunt Olive and Uncle Daniel, who truly do love him, he departs the circus for home. On the way, Toby finds that Mr. Stubbs has followed him, and decides to take the chimp home with him, for safe keeping. Soon after though, Mr. Stubbs gets chased by a hunter's dog. The hunter, Jim Weaver, accidentally shoots Mr. Stubbs just as Harry arrives to haul Toby back to the circus.
