Robert Michael Sheehan; (Irish: Roibeárd Mícheál Ó Siodhacháin; born 7 January 1988) is an Irish actor. He is best known for television roles such as Nathan Young in Misfits and Darren in Love/Hate, as well as the 2009 film Cherrybomb alongside Rupert Grint. He also co-starred in the film Killing Bono as Ivan McCormick. In late 2011 he starred in John Crowley's production of J. M. Synge's comic play The Playboy of the Western World at the Old Vic Theatre in London.

Sheehan has three IFTA nominations and one BAFTA nomination. He also shared a BAFTA award with the cast of Misfits.

In 2013 he portrayed Simon Lewis in the film adaption of The Mortal Instruments book City of Bones.

Biography

Originaire de Portlaoise, en Irlande, Robert Sheehan est le fils de Maria et Joe Sheehan. Né Robert Michael Sheehan, il a décidé d'ajouter Adam afin de se faire connaître comme Robert Michael Adam Sheehan. Il est le plus jeune d'une famille de trois enfants. À l'âge de quatorze ans, sa mère l'a emmené à sa première audition pour le film, Song for a Raggy Boy, et a été choisi pour le rôle, qui a été tourné pendant trois mois dans l'ouest de Cork. Il déclare qu'il reste toujours en contact avec quelques-uns des garçons du film, et décrit le tournage comme une aventure. À seize ans, il a interprété le garçon paralysé à Cripple des Innishmaan produit par Open Door Productions, et déclare qu'il n'y a rien de mieux que le théâtre.

À l'âge de 17 ans, il a étudié à l'Institut de Technologie de Galway-Mayo, mais au bout d'un an, il a arrêté ses cours de cinéma et de télévision décidant que la vie derrière la caméra n'était pas pour lui. Cependant, malgré l'absence de formation professionnelle, en dehors de groupes de théâtre locaux, il lui a été offert un certain nombre de rôles mineurs. Il a expliqué par la suite : « Je ne suis pas sûr de vouloir être un acteur. Je tiens à aller au collège, mais je n'ai aucune envie d'étudier l'art dramatique. Mais je tiens à le faire pour voir où cela me mènera, je vais donc continuer. Je n'ai jamais vraiment fait de plans pour mon avenir. Mais si je peux obtenir un peu d'emploi, je vous en serais reconnaissant. C'est véritablement très amusant et merveilleusement enrichissant pour un jeune comme moi. Je continuerai aussi longtemps que je recevrai du travail. »

Il dit de ses parents qu'ils étaient merveilleux et toujours favorables à sa carrière. Sa mère était pratiquement son manager dans les premiers jours, ainsi que son chauffeur, le conduisant toujours vers de nouvelles auditions et de nouveaux décors de cinéma.


Carrière
En 2003, il a débuté sa carrière par le court-métrage An Cuainín de Chris Roufspuis. La même année, il fait sa première apparition dans le long-métrage, Song for a Raggy Boy d'Aisling Walsh, une histoire vraie retraçant les évènements qui se sont déroulés à la veille de la Seconde Guerre mondiale dans un centre de redressement pour jeunes garçons, où il endosse un rôle d'O Reilly 58. Graham Cantwell l'appelle pour le besoin d'un court-métrage, A Dublin Story, dans lequel il est un des gamins des rues nommé Clocker.

En 2004, il interprète le rôle de Cormac MacNamara dans la série télévisée australienne Correspondant express (Foreign Exchange), aux côtés de Lynn Styles et Zachary Garred.

En 2005, il devient Louis XIV dans treize épisodes de la série télévisée Young Blades.

En 2006, il endosse le rôle de Tim lors du thriller surnaturel, Ghostwood, de Justin O'Brien, avant d'apparaître pour le temps d'un épisode dans la série médicale irlandaise The Clinic et un autre dans Bel's Boys.

En 2007, il tient le rôle principal dans le court-métrage dramatique, An Créatúr, de Peter Foott.

En 2008, il est dans la comédie familiale, Summer of the Flying Saucer de Martin Duffy ainsi que dans un épisode de la série historique Les Tudors dans laquelle il est apprenti, au côté de Jonathan Rhys Meyers et dans huit épisodes de la série dramatique Rock Rivals.
Durant la même année, il obtient un rôle dans le film Cherrybomb aux côtés de Rupert Grint.

En 2009, il interprète un jeune se prostituant dans la trilogie télévisuelle Red Riding.
Suite à ses différents interprétations remarquées, il obtient un des rôles principaux, celui de Nathan Young, dans la série télévisée fantastique Misfits pendant les deux premières saisons, avant de la quitter pour privilégier sa carrière cinématographique.

A child grows up loving his father who took his life when he was a child. After the father's death the child is shown to have the ability to see and talk with souls who have not "gone into the light". The souls beg him to help with talking to their loved ones and all three are shown tortured mentally until the task is completed. It is shown that as a child is in and out of psychiatric clinics and hospitals thru adulthood. In the end he saves a lady who tried to kill herself and finally the constable and sister believe it is true. The psychiatrist still will not put her professional career on the line and still believe it is only within his mind and not the connection to the lost soul who asked his help to save the lady's life. He is always blamed for events that happen badly while he is trying to help the lost soul. He is always putting himself at risk to help the lost souls, but is never really thanked by the lost souls. During the story it is revealed to him that his nephew, the son of his sister, also sees lost souls, but has never told to anyone but him. The nephew tells him about a lost soul he sees that drowned in the pool, though unclear about how long ago the drowning occurred. The story ends with the reappearance to the sister's child, his nephew, a ghost of a boy who drowned in the pool from a family who had occupied the home prior to the sister and her family moving in. At the same time, the sister is at her brother's home sees a newspaper clipping several years ago about the death of the boy in her swimming pool.

Soon after, Bates and his partner Mason (Reggie Yates) discover Samantha's death scene.
