Sean Taro Ono Lennon (japonais : Tarō Ono (小野 太郎 Ono Tarō), né le 9 octobre 1975 à New York) est un auteur-compositeur-interprète américain. Il est l'enfant unique du couple John Lennon et Yoko Ono. Demi-frère de Julian Lennon.

Biography

Sean Lennon naît le jour même du 35e anniversaire de son père, John Lennon. Il a pour parrain Elton John.

Sean Lennon suit l'intégralité de sa scolarité au sein d'écoles privées, telles que l'Institut Le Rosey. Il fait sa première « apparition musicale » en 1981 sur l'album Season of Glass de sa mère Yoko Ono où il récite un petit texte. En 1984 sur l'album Every Man Has a Woman, il interprète un titre entier. Puis il est retenu au casting du film Moonwalker de Michael Jackson en 1988.

Après une collaboration avec Lenny Kravitz en 1991 sur l'album Mama Said, les deux hommes créent le Peace Choir avec Yoko Ono pour protester contre la Guerre du Golfe. Sean travaille avec sa mère sur Rising en 1995, puis intègre en 1997 le duo japonais Cibo Matto où il tient le poste de bassiste.

Sean Lennon sort son premier album, Into the Sun, avec sa mère en 1998. Puis en 1999, Half Horse, Half Musician compilation de remixes des chansons d’Into the Sun. Sean fait une apparition en 2000 sur l'album Primitive de Soulfly dans la chanson Son Song.

Son dernier album Friendly Fire est sorti le 26 septembre 2006. Une nouvelle version datant du 23 avril 2007 a vu le jour, incluant son duo avec -M- intitulé L'éclipse. Le single Dead Meat est sorti le 10 septembre 2006.
Il est actuellement en couple avec le mannequin Charlotte Kemp Muhl avec laquelle il forme le duo The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger qui sort l'album Acoustic Sessions en 2010.

En 2011 il enregistre A Monster in Paris, la version anglaise de la Bande-originale du film d'animation Un monstre à Paris composée par Matthieu Chedid. Il interprète le titre phare de l'album La Seine en duo avec Vanessa Paradis et participe au show case de l'avant-première du film donné au Trianon en octobre 2011.

En 2016, il publie avec Les Claypool, le bassiste et chanteur de Primus, l'album Monolith of Phobos. Le disque est écrit et interprété en intégralité par les deux musiciens, qui ont entamé cette collaboration à l'été 2015 après une tournée commune de leurs groupes .

We went through several versions of the style, or the approach, that we were going to take. At first, we did a kind of goofy, Napoleon Dynamite sort of thing which didn't really work out. It sort of highlighted the wrong aspects of the film. Then there was another direction we went, which was a retro Italian superhero film, kind of a Barbarella direction. I really enjoyed making that music, but it didn't ground the film and it lacked gravity. Despite how silly the film is and how kind of comedic it is, it needed a certain seriousness to sort of propel the more important aspects of the narrative – you know, the parents having been killed by this bad guy and the superhero avenging the murder of his parents. It needed some grounding. That was when we sort of went with the third direction, which was kind of a straight-up action hero style– a serious, orchestrated superhero score.

Two students uncover a series of mysterious signs in otherwise normal photographs taken around New York City with an antique spoon. They determine that these are clues that depict a pathway from a train station in New York City to a seahorse in the wilderness. Kate sets off alone to follow the crumbs, which leads her to a terrifying encounter with a psychic in a decaying cottage. The psychic falls prey to the Boxheads, a mysterious and evil cult that traps victims, whose smiling photographs appear on boxes that hide the faces of the cult members. Escaping from the psychic’s cottage, Kate waltzes through the woods, taking shelter for the night in an eerie motel where she has frightening dreams and hallucinations. In one of these, a young girl falls victim to the Boxheads and disappears.

Julian Marsh (Jake Hoffman), an unemployed young lothario, is forced by his doctor dad (Chip Zien) to accept a job directing an off-Broadway play called Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Undead, which is described as a weird adaptation of Hamlet. Unaware of the danger that surrounds Theo’s play, Julian casts his best friend Vince (Kris Lemche) as Hamlet and uses his new job to impress his ex-girlfriend, Anna (Devon Aoki), an aspiring actress. To Julian’s dismay, Anna has taken up with a shady businessman named Bobby Bianchi (Ralph Macchio), who has reputed ties to the Mafia. When Anna is cast as Ophelia, she slowly gets involved with Theo. The roles of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern in Theo’s play are filled by Carlo (Carlos Velazquez) and Mickey (Mike Landry), two narcissistic actors as foolish as the characters they are cast to play. Opening night draws near and people begin to die. Two bumbling New York City detectives (Jeremy Sisto and Lou Carbonneau) chase suspects as the movie builds to its climactic sequence.
