Sonja Richter (born 4 January 1974) is a Danish actress. She is probably best known for her performance in the 2002 film Open Hearts by Susanne Bier, for which she was nominated for both the Bodil Award and the Robert Award.
In a career which has so far avoided Hollywood to focus on films in her native Denmark, she has also starred in Stealing Rembrandt (2003) and Villa Paranoia (2004), along with several other films and a significant amount of work in television. In 2004, at the 54th Berlin International Film Festival, Richter was one of ten young European actors that were presented the Shooting Stars Award by the European Film Promotion. In 2007, she received the Crown Prince Couple's Culture Prize.

Marie (Sonia Suhl) is a shy nineteen-year-old growing up in a remote fishing village in Denmark where she lives with her father Thor (Lars Mikkelsen) and mother (Sonja Richter), who is comatose and confined to a wheelchair. She's bothered by a strange rash that develops on her chest, only to become more unnerved when she begins to sprout hair. During this time Marie begins working at a fish processing plant where her coworkers bully her under the false premise that it is hazing and not intended to be malicious. Cecilia et Joaquim, jeune couple d'amoureux, sont sur le point de se marier quand Joaquim est renversé par une voiture.
