Sophie Rois (née le 1er juin 1961 à Ottensheim) est une actrice autrichienne.

Biography

Rois suit de 1983 à 1986 les cours du Max Reinhardt Seminar. À sa sortie, elle a des engagements à Berlin, au Renaissance-Theater, la Haus der Berliner Festspiele et au Schillertheater. En 1993, elle intègre l'ensemble de la Volksbühne Berlin, dirigé notamment par René Pollesch qui l'invite au Burgtheater à Vienne.

Son premier grand rôle au cinéma est dans Tous les moyens sont bons en 1993. Dans le téléfilm Thomas Mann et les siens, elle interprète Erika Mann. Rois obtient le Deutscher Filmpreis 2011 de la meilleure actrice pour le film Trois.

Le documentaire examine la vie de Heinrich Himmler à travers des entrées d'agendas, des lettres et des mémos. Himmler enregistre tôt dans son carnet personnel qu'il souhaite aller se battre durant la Première Guerre mondiale et regrette d'être trop jeune pour faire partie de l'action. Plus tard, durant le lycée, il exprime des vues antisémites et se plaint du fait que personne ne l'aime. Âgé d'une vingtaine d'années, il rejoint les Schutzstaffel. Il tombe amoureux de Margarete "Marga" Himmler, et les deux échangent des lettres qui sont présentées numérotées en séquences. Des échanges avec sa fille Gudrun sont aussi présentés dans le film, ainsi que les entrées d'agenda de celle-ci. Quand la Seconde Guerre mondiale débute, Himmler écrit de vagues allusions à propos de ses activités professionnelles, et les deux se plaignent de ne pas avoir assez de temps ensemble. Plus tard les lettres font allusion à la relation de Himmler avec Hedwig Potthast, sa secrétaire. Des mémos nazis internes révèlent des pans de sa philosophie, ce à quoi le titre du documentaire fait référence, car Himmler indique qu'il croit que les officiers sont constitués d'« hommes décents ». Les difficultés morales que leur posent l'accomplissement de leurs tâches prouvent leur supériorité morale par rapport aux Juifs, et font qu'on se rappellera d'eux plus tard pour leur décence.

Hanna and Simon are in a long-term relationship which, though loving, has grown sexually unexciting. The night of his surgery, Hanna has a sexual encounter with a man called Adam, and Simon learns that he had fathered a child seventeen years earlier, although the woman opted for an abortion. Simon, who had assumed that either he or Hanna was infertile, is assured that he should still be able to have children after his surgery. During his recovery, Simon and Hanna decide to finally wed. Beginning in West Germany in 1982, 18-year-old school boy Helmut falls in love with fellow pupil Britta. He starts working for a Peace movement to get to know Britta. Danilov, now a Senior Lieutenant, suggests that the people need figures to idolize and give them hope, and publishes tales of Vasily's exploits in the army's newspaper that paint him as a national hero and propaganda icon. Vasily is transferred to the sniper division, and he and Danilov become friends. They also both become romantically interested in Tania (Rachel Weisz), a citizen of Stalingrad who has become a Private in the local militia. Danilov has her transferred to an intelligence unit away from the battlefield.

In a rural village in a remote valley in Austria at the beginning of the 20th century a land-owning farmer is found dead. The farmer was childless and without further family and, to the surprise of all, willed his worldly goods, including his farm, to his seven farmhands in equal shares. Suddenly seven have-nots have become land-owners. The existing power structure is deeply disturbed and the developments are commonly perceived as threatening the existing world order. Efforts are put into place to undo this wrong. The events triggered by the troubles originating both from within the group of inheritors and from the outside make up the story line of this movie. A sub plot is the mystery of the farmer's motivation for his unusual last will and testament. He was considered to be a hard man with a mean streak, and some of his land-owning peers don't rule out he did it to spite them, as a slap in their face after his death. However, one of the farm hands detects that the story might be more complicated.
