Stuart Baird (born 30 November 1947) is an English film editor, producer, and director who is mainly associated with action films. He has edited over twenty major motion pictures.

Biography

Stuart Baird a débuté comme monteur sur les films de Ken Russell.

En 1976, il travaille sur le film La Malédiction, ce qui va entraîner une longue et fructueuse collaboration avec le réalisateur, Richard Donner.

Son travail sur les films Superman, le film et Gorilles dans la brume, lui valent respectivement une nomination à l'Oscar.

En 1989, il devient Directeur du département Montage à la Warner Bros. et supervise plusieurs films, dont Robin des Bois, prince des voleurs et 58 minutes pour vivre.

En 1996, il fait ses débuts dans la réalisation, avec le film d'action Ultime Décision et réalise deux ans plus tard US Marshals, la suite du film Le Fugitif. On peut remarquer dans ces deux films qu'il a dirigés, Ultime Décision (1996) et US Marshals (1998), une scène où un transport aérien subit une dépressurisation - il en ira de même dans Star Trek : Nemesis (2002). Dans ces trois films il aura collaboré avec Jerry Goldsmith pour la musique.

Il fait également parfois office de producteur exécutif, comme en 1980 sur le film de Ken Russell, Au-delà du réel (film) ou en 2001, sur le film Tomb Raider, le berceau de la vie, dont il assure également le montage.

Depuis l'échec de son dernier film, Star Trek : Nemesis en 2002, il n'a plus réalisé jusqu'à ce jour et se concentre sur son métier de monteur, notamment sur les derniers James Bond, Casino Royale et Skyfall.

Meanwhile, the crew of the USS Enterprise-E prepares to bid farewell to longtime first officer Commander William Riker and Counselor Deanna Troi, who are being married on Betazed. En route, they discover a positronic energy reading on a planet in the Kolaran system near the Romulan Neutral Zone. Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Lieutenant Commander Worf, and Lieutenant Commander Data land on Kolarus III and discover the remnants of an android resembling Data. When the android is reassembled it reveals its name is B-4, and the crew deduce it to be a less-advanced, earlier version of Data.

Inside a Russian cargo plane flying above Antarctica. In the cargo hold, three Russians sit with a padlocked box. The co-pilot leaves his seat and goes into the cargo hold, and then begins to shoot the other men, who return fire. The chaos caused by the gunfight leads to a crash which kills all aboard. In modern times, newcomers arrive at the United States' Amundsen–Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica, while others who are scheduled to leave are preparing to do so early because of a storm. They must depart before the onset of winter or remain for six months. Deputy U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko (Kate Beckinsale) has been working in Antarctica for two years, since a betrayal by her partner in Miami that killed him and nearly killed her. She plans to retire after returning to the United States in two days.

The film opens with Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) in an Egyptian tomb, seeking a diamond at one end of a chamber. As she approaches she is attacked by a large robot. After an intense chase and battle, she disables it by ripping out its motivational circuits. She takes the diamond, which is revealed to be a memory card labeled "Lara's Party Mix", and inserts it into a laptop computer inside the robot, whereupon it plays music. Now it is revealed that the scene took place in a practice arena in her home, and that her assistant Bryce (Noah Taylor) programmed the robot, SIMON, to challenge her in combat.
