Trude von Molo (December 22, 1906 – November 27, 1989) was an Austrian film actress. She was the daughter of the writer Walter von Molo and the twin sister of Conrad von Molo. She emerged as a leading actress of German cinema in the early 1930s, but then retired and emigrated to Latin America.

During World War I, young Ellen Lange runs away from her boarding school in Hamburg, because she cannot stand its strict rules any longer, and escapes to her brother Rolf, who lives in Kiel. Rolf, a vice-helmsman by profession, is not too enthusiastic about Ellen's arrival, because he has to go to England in secret orders. So he tries to convince her to go back to her boarding school, and when they both separate at the station, he is convinced that she will do so. But Ellen is unwilling to give up her new freedom again, so she takes another train to Berlin instead. During the journey, she meets a young girl that promises to help her find a job in Berlin. She also provides Ellen with the address of "Aunt Jenny", a dubios lady that finally gets her a job in a music store. After her three months of probation, Mr. Hansen, her boss, orders Ellen to bring a precious violin to Copenhagen. He also provides her with a false passport, as Ellen does not have any identity papers.

In 1911, Vincenzo Peruggia is a poverty-stricken Italian glazier who falls in love with Mathilde, a French hotel maid. Struck by the girl's resemblance to Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Vicenzo manages to steal the painting from the Louvre in hopes of impressing his sweetheart. But when the girl proves to be a fickle sort, the crestfallen hero confesses his crime and is carted off to jail. Constantinople, 1912. Le marquis de Sévigné, colonel français, vient d'arriver pour conseiller l'armée turque du sultan. Sur place, il rencontre le britannique Lord Falkland et son meilleur confident, le prince Stanislas Cernuwicz, l'attaché de l'ambassade de Russie. Le même soir, le secrétaire de la police ottomane, Mehmed Pacha, déclare au colonel que le Britannique est directeur de l'administration de la dette publique ottomane, il peut être un homme puissant dont il faudrait se méfier. Falkland est marié à Lady Mary, une femme presque enfantine, très affligée par l'échec de son mariage et la vie dans l'Empire. Quand Sévigné fait la connaissance de Lady Mary, il est impressionné par l'amour et la tendresse avec laquelle la femme parle de son fils. Le lendemain, il se rend chez elle, il est accueilli par Lady Edith. Elle n'est pas seulement la cousine de lord Falkland, mais aussi sa maîtresse.
