In 1975, John Baker and his lover, Lenny, take John's children Angela and Peter on a boating trip. Le 21 août 1910, un berger, débile léger, José María Grimaldos, surnommé El cepa (Le Cep) est aperçu pour la dernière fois sur la route menant de la commune de Osa de la Vega à Tresjuncos, dans la province de Cuenca (Castille-La Manche). La famille de celui-ci, très inquiète, alerte les autorités policières. Deux bergers, Gregorio Valero et León Sánchez, sont suspectés en septembre 1911. L'affaire est pourtant close, faute de preuves suffisantes. En 1913, le juge Isasa fait rouvrir le dossier : Gregorio et León sont incarcérés par la Guardia Civil. Soumis à des interrogatoires serrés suivis de tortures, les deux hommes finissent par avouer un meurtre imaginaire. Le procureur requiert la peine de mort. Mais, en mai 1918, un jury populaire inflige dix-huit ans de prison aux deux condamnés. Après onze ans d'emprisonnement, Gregorio et León sont libérés dans le cadre d'une loi d'amnistie générale (février 1924). Deux ans plus tard, au début de l'année 1926, José María Grimaldos est découvert vivant dans un village voisin. Au cours d'un processus judiciaire plutôt long, les condamnations seront annulées par la Cour suprême.

After he exposes a pair of con artists with his partner Melanie (Candy Clark) in the infamous 112 Ocean Avenue house in Amityville journalist John Baxter (Tony Roberts) is persuaded to purchase the house by real estate agent Clifford Sanders (John Harkins). While preparing the house for John, Clifford investigates footsteps in the attic. He is locked in the room, where a swarm of flies attack and kill him. John believes Clifford died of a stroke, even after Melanie shows him some photos she took of the real estate agent before his death which depict him as a rotting corpse.

People have been disappearing in the town of Pottsville, Idaho. Detective Mortimer Lutz (Bill Osco) thinks it is connected to the toxic dump site near the town, but is impeded in his investigation by the Mayor (Jose Ferrer), who is concerned about the economic impact on the town's potato industry should it turn out to be true. In reality, the toxic waste has turned a young child into a cannibalistic mutant monster, devouring anyone who comes across him. The film tells the story of missionary Nathaniel "Nate" Williamsen (O'Keefe), taken to an island mission with his fiancee Sophie (Seagrove). Their ship, the Rona, is captained by the roguish Bully Hayes (Jones), who also takes a liking to Sophie. When Sophie is kidnapped by slave trader Ben Pease (Max Phipps), "Nate" teams with Hayes in order to find her. The plot is essentially a set-up for a rousing series of Indiana Jones style action set pieces, including a sequence on a suspension bridge which greatly resembles the climax of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, though Nate and Hayes was released a year earlier.
