Cassie Stratford is a plain science nerd, whose mother was captain of the cheersquad at Ivory Coast University and president of Zeta Mu Sorority, so she's pressured to join both cheerleading and the sorority. However, Brittany Andrews, Zeta President and Cheer Captain (who has a Napoleon complex), rejects her. Cassie works in the Biology Building of the University, where she and her friend Kyle are working on a drug that turns things beautiful. So in the night, Cassie steals the drug and injects herself with it. While she does become beautiful and makes the cheersquad when one of the cheerleaders is injured, she then discovers the drug has a side effect when she starts to grow taller and taller until she is a 50-foot tall giantess. When Brittany discovers this, she tries to seduce Kyle into telling her the secret, which leads to her being injected with more of the drug than Cassie and growing bigger too. Brittany goes through the town on her way to the stadium, being careful not to hurt anyone on the way. She begins to cheer, but is confronted by Cassie. This all leads to a large cat fight during the big homecoming game. Cassie wins by injecting the antidote into Brittany, making her shrink into a dwarf. Cassie then injects herself with a smaller portion and returns to her normal size.

At the New England-based private educational institution Holloman High School, curious teacher Myers (Ricky Wayne) is interrogating student Quentin (Jonathan Baron) on his apparent ancestral ties with former headmaster Danforth (MC Gainey), a notorious murderer and cult leader. He brings Quentin to the school's basement to question him in private. Quentin is shown a few historical artifacts pertaining to Danforth. They slip from his hands accidentally and in the process, a 1950s time capsule is knocked open, allowing the ghost of a deceased Danforth and his female assistant trapped in it to escape. The rest of the academy are unaware of this incident, except for the school's janitor Ortiz (Danny Trejo), who is informed of Danforth's escape, but gets locked up in the janitor's closet by Danforth's hench-woman. Ortiz presents himself as knowledgeable about Danforth and the other ghosts — he reveals himself to be the academy's secret guardian who has been investigating the actions of Danforth's cult, which caused his sister's death, for decades.

Captain Jung Tae-yoon (Rain), an Air Force pilot in the Black Eagles aerobatic team, performs a cocky and dangerous maneuver during an air show and is transferred to the 21st Fighter Wing, a combat unit flying the F-15K strike fighter. Aaron and Jim are filmmakers who, after receiving a link to an online video that mocks a local conspiracy theorist, decide to make a documentary film about him. The man, Terrance G., shows them a billboard that he uses to catalog information and draw connections between events. Impressed with his dedication and the depth of his research, the documentary takes a sympathetic but skeptical view of Terrance's beliefs. During an outdoors interview, Terrance becomes agitated and points out a man whom he believes to be following him. Shortly afterward, Terrance disappears without a trace. Worried, Aaron and Jim investigate and find that Terrance's apartment is being cleared out. Aaron salvages Terrance's work and recreates it on his own wall. When Aaron claims to have found the connecting conspiracy that Terrance was investigating, Jim reluctantly agrees to pursue it further for the documentary. When Aaron's house is broken into, he moves in with Jim and his family, who view Aaron's increasing obsession with the Tarsus club with alarm.
